San Diego Is Burning

This really sucks!

The city of San Diego and surrounding areas are in a state of emergency.

8 seperate fires have burned 40,000 acres and the mayor told everyone to stay home Monday.

No school. No work. Stay off the roads.

If you are in one of the areas to evacuate, evacuate ASAP.

Things are so bad right now that the radio stations have gone dark. Workers are home.

Stay strong SD!

      21

The area of San Diego that has been evacuated is over 100 square miles! The fires are out of control and now burning into heavily populated areas. For those of you that know SD, It's from Highway 78 south to route 56 — between the 15 all the way west to Interstate 5! That's about 15 miles top-bottom and 10 miles east-west. Insane!

over 100,000 acres have burned as of 10am on monday morning. none of the 8 fires are contained, and because of the santa ana winds the fires are continuing to grow. i live in san diego and the air is filled with ash and smoke…

    40. IT'S ONLY NATURAL says – reply to this

      40

Wildfires are part of nature. They are needed and used to burn as they pleased. We are too concerned with putting them out to save our precious belongings. Greed shouldn't have built an $800,000 house right in the middle of a forest.

    51. tallpam says – reply to this

      51

I live in central San Diego and can see the sky getting darker from the smoke as the morning goes on. I'm far away from the fire but can feel the results. Ash is falling all over and the air smells smoky. The report is it's only going to get worse. This is too similar to the fires 4 years ago. Didn't the folks in charge in charge of this city learn anything from the Cedar fire how to prevent this from happening again????

Re: Pee on you – Wow, you must live a pathetic existence if you wish that much harm on so many people. There is a serious situation out here right now. I am an administrator here at San Diego State University and the surrounding areas are in big trouble. For all of you who are wishing ill harm on those affected should be ashamed of yourselves. San Diego has always been a very generous city, helping those areas (Like New Orleans) whenever they needed help. Right now, San Diego just needs well wishes for all those who are affected, regardless of whether or not they have $800,000 dollar homes (which by the way is horrible inaccurate estimate of home values here). Again, keep your horrible negative comments to yourselves and keep positive thinking for all the firefighters and rescue workers who are putting themselves on the line right now to save this beautiful city. Thank you.
