Re: Pete – How many Emmys did Edie Falco need? She won 3 over the course of the series. Yes, she is incredible but man, that is why the Emmys sucked over the year because the same people would win year after year - no suprises.
As for Sally, she is two time academy award winner and was quite the box office draw back in the 70's And she isn't a spokesperson for Depends, she is a spokesperson for Boniva, a calcium supplement.

The ending was so stupid ! I was going to buy the DVD collection for my dad but after the STUPID ending I decided not to . The producer sounds like an arrogant S.O.B ! Remind me when he does other stuff , I plan to boycott it .

The actors in the Sopranos do deserve credit , I hope this B.S hasn't hurt their careers .

I never cheered him on . I couldn't wait for him to get what was coming to him, even if I loved his character.

remind me to never watch any more shows written or produced by that pompous ass David Chase. One of the reasons that we were watching the Sopranos was precisely that there is a war going on. We see that shit all day! We want escape from it! Fuck him!

      106

what an ass. All "these people" he belittling are the people who made the show a hit and made Chase a lot of money. The ending was totally lame and he is defending it by blaming the viewers. Douche.

The only reason I'm gonna be really mad is because I'm reading this slop website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really mad that Perez Hilton makes $200K a month! Holy shit - only in the good ol USA.

gee, I'm so glad I could cheer this guys show through 8 (drawn out) seasons so he could call me pathetic for wanting him to do his fucking job and WRITE A FUCKING ENDING TO THE SHOW!!

      114

I am not mad about this… what is there to be mad about? Its his show and its our choice to watch it…

And yes, I watched every episode. And I didn't think that Tony died, even though everyone tried to "prove" it to me. So, I agree with Chase, it is pathetic that people stood behid Tony and then wanted some sort of punishment…

Its much cooler that everyone just goes on their merry way and continues to live… we just don't get to experience it with them anymore… just as when the show started and we didn't get to see everything that happened before, we now don't get to see everything that happened after…

      Thank god Chase finally spoke…

      He makes a great point.
      Get over yourselves!

Some people don't give a shit about having fans..of course Perez lives for validation. If writers were always at the mercy of a given fan base there would be even more predicable crap of TV.

Not all people wanted Tony to get clipped — they just wanted SOME kind of ending PERIOD!!! We didn't watch that show for that long to come up with our own fucking ending!! Its entertainment and we wanted his version. He's a cop out prick.

That article didn't print the whole interview. Go to Sopranoland or Chase Lounge (google it) He contradicts himself by saying that the Jerry T. hit had hints in it about the end of the Sopranos. Also he called Carmella a housewife-whore which I thought was a bit too harsh. I do think he is being coy and is messing with everyone's head. The less he says the better.

    21. Stranahan says – reply to this

      121

Did you morons read the same article I did?

"Chase insists it wasn't meant as a prank.

"Why would we want to do that?" he asks. "Why would we entertain people for eight years only to give them the finger?"

He didn't do that. It's just some people only find a death to be a good ending, especially if it's bloody.

Sorry it wasn't tied up in a nice neat bow for you…

      125

What was that crap in the middle about terrorist attacks that week…………….did he time it that way, wasn't it filmed weeks ahead? Is he insane…. one thing has nothing to do with the other, but he says 'oh, I did it because terrorist attacks were that week and blah, blah, blah. Sounds like last minute or even after-the-fact justification. He's crazy, the show sucked, Tony was fat pig of a man, I'm just glad they are gone now. I can't see the draw with this egomaniac convention any more than I understand people that say Marlon Brando could act, he mummbled and was unintelligable most of his movies…..oh, yea, love those mummbling, fat, disgusting actors that 'stretch their talent' playing a mummbling fat, disgusting character.

Did anyone who commented even READ and UNDERSTAND the interview with David Chase? It seem doubtful given the bizarre dribble below.

Why are you all saying such moronic things? This is your one life; please don't be morons through it. You do alot of unintentional damage by being ignorant.

    33. cory says – reply to this

      133

upset about what? the ending was great… they didn't try to tie up all the loose ends like other shows… that would make it less believable. instead, life goes on, just another day in their lives, etc. this way, the characters live on in our minds. why should a lot of crazy shit happen at the end? this is more true to life. get your head out of your ass, perez… there was nothing wrong with the ending of the soprano's, and there was nothing wrong with anything david chase said in that article. he brought up the terrorist attacks in london because he felt that too many people were bitching about his stupid tv show when they should have been focused on the loss of human life in the real world. he's saying: "get over it already". and he's right. and you, as usual perez, are wrong. you're always trying to stir shit up where there's nothing going on.

    34. the ending was apropos..now turn the page! says – reply to this

      134

Chase is just a lot smarter than u will ever be, Perez. I'm sorry you're just too dumb to get it.

    35. Edward says – reply to this

      135

what an egomaniac! that asshole did give us the finger. That ending was a total cop out, and to say theres more important things going on in this world is ridicules, thats for us to decide. David Chase needs to concentrate on his job and and not give us his bullshit excuses. We wanted a good ending not some bullshit ending! Fuck David Chase I Will Never Watch Anything Else He Puts Out!

    36. Tony Soprano says – reply to this

      136

I think the ending was creative and brilliant. It's called … it is what it is!! Everybody that bitched about the series finale is just a whiner. Perez, you're fucking insane to complain about Chase. His interview and ending to the show as fine.

    37. PDS says – reply to this

      137

Let me see if I got this right, Perez: David Chase, creator of one of the most successful and brilliant shows to ever air on television, is a douche because he didn't give people the violent, blood-spattered ending some of them wanted? Or is he a "douche" because he pointed out the hypocrisy of viewers for worshipping Tony Soprano for years, then demanding his violent demise? Sorry, but if anyone is a "douche," it is people such as you who are incapable of understand great art.

    38. cthulhu says – reply to this

      138

He probably wouldn't have sounded scornful towards his audience for any reaction OTHER than the one the majority displayed. I was thankful, so thankful that nothing bad happened to Tony. Tony was heroic, and I love him. I realize the bad things he did, but it didn't change the fact that he was a truly good person. He had flaws. No one is strictly the embodiment of the nature of their actions alone.
I get the feeling that he feels affection for the character Tony also, and feels the way anyone wold feel if people were clamoring for the death of a loved one, fictitious or not.

      142

      Damm
atleast he was original about his ending.Plus he already explained the reason for ending it the way he did and it was pretty plausible to a sane person.I think i was a fucking great take not to whack Tony but leave it open ended. The problem with someAmericans is that the lack a sense of imagination or intelligence to perceive it in a fullfilling matter themselfs. So stop hassling the guy and except his brilliance.Plus though it maybye a no brainer he is right about the war situation.Though america is still the greatest nation in the world i forsee quit some problems in the future to the possible dumming down of the whole nation plus the lack of caring by some of the people.

    43. E. Gore says – reply to this

      143

He's a douche for sharing his feelings? A douche for calling fans on their bullshit? Was he a douche when he gave you an acting job, P? You're way off here. He's an artist who doesn't have to wrap up a show with some stupid bowtie like the bullshit that gets served up on network t.v.

      The ending is BRILLIANT because:
      A) Whether Tony lives or dies, his status in the crime scene will ALWAYS mean he will forever be looking over his shoulder
      B) Chase has allowed his viewers the opportunity to draw their own conclusions about Tony; we all have a fantasy as to what would happen and we are given the power to project that with the ending.
      C) It's a natural ending that leaves him open to do a film should he wish to return to the project. Big duh.
