Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Poor Parents?
They may be the sexiest screen stars and the hottest humanitarians, but are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie forgetting that family comes first?
The comely couple and their ever-flourishing family of four kids have sojourned in several different states and cities over the last four months.
Brangelina and their babes have moved to and fro such places as New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago and Prague on top of reports they are searching for Spanish stomping grounds.
But while Angie and Brad may be giving their guys and girls a global education, some say it may be doing more harm than good.
"It would appear that they are attempting to have the children fit into their lifestyle as opposed to them amending their lifestyle to meet the needs of their children," said marriage and family therapist Sloane Veshinski.
"Young children need structure and a routine; however, the constant movement can cause an inability to form attachment bonds to those around them, form relationships with other children and establish a peer group," Veshinski said.
"The lack of consistency in routine, languages spoken and the overall changes of environment may cause them to lack a level of trust and comfort in their environment if that environment continues to change.
"The children may have difficulties in forming relationships with their peers, other than their siblings. They may, in the future, be diagnosed with issues such as attachment disorders or ADHD as their world is moving faster than they are able to process."
And while the movie-star mom and dad certainly seem to have "Mighty Hearts," it appears they could benefit from some parental education a la Britney Spears.
"They are parents who are unaware of the developmental needs of their children," Veshinski added. "Brad and Angelina need education about what is needed for their children to develop appropriately from a developmental and psychological perspective."
However, Pop Tarts has been told that it isn't just the juniors who are suffering from the leaping lifestyle. Apparently, all the unsettlement is causing ruptures in the romance between the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" sensations.
"Brad really wants to stay put in one place permanently and focus on building their family and the charities they are engaged in," our inside source said. "But Angelina's train of thought is much different. Her career is on fire at the moment, and she wants to travel and thinks the kids will be much better off seeing so much of the world.
"The differing views on top of the pressures of being as famous as they are is definitely putting a huge strain on their relationship."
And it seems that their sensational status already is affecting their eldest son's ability to be professionally educated, as Angie apparently was forced to withdraw Maddox from his swanky French school in the Big Apple due to the "big disruptions" the couple continuously caused.
"Parents were going crazy, the paparazzi were everywhere every time either Pitt or Jolie went to collect Maddox," an eyewitness said. "It was madness. I can't see any solution other than home-schooling their children."

I kind of agree with that! Some of the best memories I have as a kid are with my friends, feeling that I belong in my neighborhood. I know that all my parents decisions were always made with us (Me and my brothers) in mind 1st. That is what good parents do. Having kids is a selfless act. They really do have to come 1st. It can suck sometimes, but if you think you can't do it, then don't have kids.
Thanks Kitty for mentioning military families … they move all the time. There *is* no difference. I grew up in a Navy family and we were always moving, somehow I managed to grow up without problems.
Personally I think the best idea for them is to hire full time tutors who travel with them and home school the kids.
The article does make excellent points. Just remember back to when you were a child how difficult it was acclimating to your school, making friends and having a social network. Her kids are still young yet, but it will get harder when they get a little older if they have to move around a lot. Jeez, they are already suffering psychological damage from all the media attention. They didn't ask for that. It's like living under a microscope. But, hey, who has a perfect family anyway. No one.

I agree actually. The kids need to make friends and have consistency, especially the older boy that they adopted. Vacations are one thing, constantly moving is another.
And as for military kids, the tours of duty are not every four months (which seems to be the longest they are in one place), and as a former military kid…I hated the moving because you lost friends.

Geez, I lived on 3 continents before I was 12 years old. I turned out just fine. It's summer, so what if the kids traveled around. Everybody want to be in all these people's lives. Some expert this, some expert that… telling people how to raise their children. How do we even know if this expert doesn't have a fucked up family. Usually they're the ones who got the most skeletons in their closets. Who really gives a shit how they're raising their kids. I fail to see how that affects me. People are so quick to judge others.

We did the same to our children as ex patriots for 20 years because of my husband's range of work for a multinational. I only can say it did them a world of good and they became outstanding personalities on every field: both in their private as in their business lifes!!!
Thinking all the travel will be beneficial for their children (letting them "see the world") is pretty stupid. We took our kids to Europe and did a lot of traveling when they were the age of Maddox and Zahara and they remember basically NOTHING about it worth mentioning. My daughter remembers a big pencil we bought at a souvenir shop, but she doesn't remember castles we saw. My son remembers a bowling alley in Waterford(?) and the Hard Rock Cafe in Dublin, but does not remember much of anything else. Since they've gotten older they've done lots of traveling and love it, but all that travel when they were small was a waste of money and time away from home.

These kids are so lucky to get to see and visit all the places they go to! Instead of wasting time writing about how it's going to affect them, the media should consider backing off and letting people live their lives. Stop trying to make a case. It affects the kids way more to have constant media attention and paparazzi in their faces all the time.
Someone always has a problem with something. Kids grow up in different environments all the time.. I think as long as these kids feel and are loved, then they'll be okay.

I thought adopted kids need time to adjust to their new caretakers and environment. Those childern already had to experience a huge change in their home and people they trust. So they are especially vunerable to problems with attachment. On the other hand, Brad and Angelina take their kids everywhere, so maybe the adopted kids have developed a strong bond with them. Hopefully they do learn to make friends. And why no troubles with the education official? Maddox and Zahara went to school like…. twice a year? Hopefully not because Brad and Angelina payed him off with a big amount of money or the officials are afraid of troubeling people with lots of money.

This is such crap. I grew up with entertainment industry parents, and I can tell you first hand that the benefits of travel and moving a lot well outweigh the "inability to bond". I am more comfortable with myself and have always been true to myself because I had to learn to make friends. I was never forced into years of torture from the cliquedom that infests elementary and high schools, and I was taught tolerance, and understanding of other cultures, religions, and lifestyles from a very young age, as my parents moved from state to state country to country. I think the worst time of my life is when they were told by a so-called expert on children that I was suffering from not having a stable environment and they enrolled me into a boarding school. I can tell you moving around with your parents is far better than being in a "stable" environment where you never get to see them.

It's true that military families move often, but there is usually a mother or father that is the consistant part of the family that stays home and watches the kids while the other one is deployed. Brad and Angelina don't even take care of their kids, they have nannies that do that. They are the ones that wanted all these kids therefore, THEY should be the one to take care of them NOT a nanny. This combined on top of moving all of the time is not healthy. People should dog them out just like they do Britney.

Kids thrive with loving supportaive parents not where they live or how often the move. Stabilty is in their relationship with their parents. If they know they are loved and feel secure in that they can handle the other stuff.

Re: Jacqueline Hyde – I think this is a very different situation from military families with children. I come from a Navy town, and I never saw my military friends moving to a different state/country every month. While moving in itself is not bad, and military kids are well adjusted and have good lives, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are moving the children too much. Seeing the world is wonderful and all, but space it out. No child should have to adjust to a new "home" every six weeks for years at a time.
