A new poll shows that if the U.S. presidential election were to be held today, and the candidates were Rudy Giuliani, Hillary Clinton and Stephen Colbert, the Comedy Central funnyman would get 13% of the votes. For real.

God bless America!

Well, why not? He worships Bill O'Reilly, is one of the most loyal Bush supporters around, and he hates liberals. I would think every good-hearted Republican will be voting for him. He's the only right-winger who isn't soft on… well, anything, really.

It just goes to show you there are no good candidates running for president. Our country lacks real leaders these days who can make real changes for the good of all.

Both democrats and republicans are working for their benefit, not ours. It's time to do away with separate parties. They are pretty much the same these days.

YES, that's true BUT DON'T YOU WANT SOMEONE WHO WILL ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT HE OR SHE IS DOING.

    31. Megals13 says – reply to this

      31

I can't believe Colbert is this stupid… He's only running in the South Carolina primaries, but he could take enough votes away from Obama so that he looses that state, because the people that would vote for Colbert would be voting for Obama. South Carolina is an extremely important primary state, because it's an early state, the first southern state primary, and history shows that people who win the early states win the nomination. Obama is for change… and Colbert is an idiot that could prevent necessary changes in the country.

      Agree.
We don't need another Nader to help throw the election.
I'm a Daily Show and a Colbert Report fan, but I hope he backs out of this frivolous stunt. No doubt he's well educated (Dartmouth alum) and more intelligent than Bush, but he's not a viable candidate.

interesting….it would be unfortunate if he swung the election like Nader. Still…makes you wonder about the idiots contributing huge sums of cash to 3rd tier contenders with no hope of getting the nomination. I mean 13% for a running gag!

Hi, HATER! No, if you've ever gotten your news from someone other than Bull O'Lielly, Ann (rhymes with "witch") Coulter and Sean Hinsannity, or even watched Colbert's show, you'd know he was from South Carolina, and Catholic. But thanks for the anti-Semetic HATE! Now I suppose you'll argue that they made up the Holocaust, too? Moron.
Now just wait for the floodgates to open declaring him a papist tool of the Vatican. My only question regarding the validity of this poll is "only 13%?"
If he really was serious, I'm sure he could be far more intelligent and thoughtful than any of the candidates in either party, and wouldn't sell out to the uber rich elitisits that have dominated this country for the past 50 years.
      VIVA La Revolucion!

      52

People, don't worry. Anyone who votes for this idiot would have voted for Hillary or Obama. They're obviously fools to begin with and shouldn't be allowed in the voting booths. If this is who they're backing, by all means, let the uneducated jackasses vote!

    53. G.R. says – reply to this

      53

Steven Colbert with 13% of the vote, is proof positive, our political process has become a joke! Then again, Bush has proved this in the last two elections! The joke, Bush, won the majority of the Electorial Vote in both elections, and the majority of the vote, in the last election. This makes George Bush the biggest joke of a President in the history of America.

Gee, let's talk about some issues, not his teeth, hair, religion or profession.
When did Bush or gore (or Clinton or Giulliani, for that matter) last have a REAL job that wasn't being paid by the you and I?
I love that the rest of the inbred right wing psychotic Kool Aid suckers out there are going apeshit over this. It's a bit! A JOKE! And you're all too STUPID to get it.
Like most one celled organisms, he's smarter than Pres. Fratboy, and
a lot more "for real" than Hillary, who's a tool of the same interests
running this mad sideshow of a government already (witness her position on Iraq).
Dixiegirl, you'd better HOPE he doesn't run- and exile the treasonous scum on both the left and the right. 'Cause just MAYBE this country would have a leader that looks out for the interests of the little guy again, not just the bankrolling campaign donors representing the 1% of this country with seven (or more) figure incomes who don't pay taxes, lay off workers and outsource their jobs to Calcutta so they can MAKE MORE MONEY!
And the cattle out there that willfully ignore how FUCKED the rest of the country is sicken me. You are the modern equivalent of the collaborators that handed over France to the NAZIS! All you flaming dbags think about is aggrandizing your own power, and getting more MONEY!
Do the right thing and start voting for the best interests of your COUNTRY!
      It'll be a nice change…
