Taking Care of Your Pooches

Each year more than 10 million pets become lost and nearly 90% of pets without identification never make it home.

Vanessa Williams is helping to raise awareness for the millions of lost pets!

The Ugly Betty star paid a visit to Animal Haven in NYC on Saturday to launch the national Bring Pets Home Campaign.

Together with HomeAgain, a leader in the pet microchip, recovery and safety service industry, they are hoping to microchip two million pets by the end of the year.

And, as we all learned from Ellen, it is very important to get your pets properly identified.

Vanessa is passionate about this cause because her own little dog, Enzo, went missing this summer and was recovered (two weeks later and a state away) thanks to his microchip.

Although I have to applaud Perez for posting ths and trying to make a difference, he may have inadvertently killed thousands in shelters by the earlier post plugging the breeders he bought his dog from.

Microchipping pets is good, however, microchipping SHELTER animals that one saved from an untimely death is much better.

What they don't tell you is that cancerous tumors often develop at the site of the microchip and many dogs and cats are DYING as a result. It's much safer to just be a responsible pet owner who doesn't let their furkids wander. If you're a mindless idiot who can't control or keep track of your animals, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY!

Why don't we focus more on getting animals spayed and neutered? I hope the microchip works for some, but when animals end up in labs to be tortured and experimented on for crap, like COVERGIRL, the scientists don't care if there is a microchip or not. There is proof from undercover investigators that dogs will have collars w/tags on, and labs will take them off and throw them away and consider the dog "homeless". There ARE differences between animals and there is a hierarchy in the critter kingdom. Some animals we eat, some we invite into our homes to sleep on our sofas, some we run over on the freeway without a second thought and some we wear as fashion statements.
All that aside, the microchips are still not safe and you should never have one injected into your pet unless you're a lazy and ignorant fucktard.

I worked at an animal shelter and we actually had quite a bit of pets that were found because of Home Again..sooo anyone should definitely get one.

To all the idiots out there who think it's not safe, microchipping actually doesn't harm your animal unless the person who does it fucks it up. It is done sub-cue (aka under the skin) so if it gets injected into their muscles, that is the person's fault who handled the needle! This is coming from LOTS of experience with microchips, by the way!

And…both of my dogs are neutered, they're just major escape artists (one of them learned how to jump on the grill and crawl over the fence..and we had an electric fence around the bottom) and these microchips helped us find them. So fuck you who say "get a leash."
