What The Aussies Are Loving
The ARIA Awards, Australia's Grammys, were held Sunday night and the big winners were Silverchair.
Daniel Johns and company took home a whopping five trophies, including single of the year, album of the year, highest-selling single of the year, best band and best rock album.
One of our favoritest bands out there right now, Operator Please, won for Breakthrough Artist - Single for their tune Just A Song About Ping Pong.
And Keith Urban won for Best Country album.

australia rules and there is so many talented artists at the moment aside from daniel johns he is gay his "wife" lives in the UK and they are rarely seen together. as for goyte who the fuck is he i have never heard of him before and missy higgins is a big raging lesbian. the living end rule and sneaky sound system are awesome. you americans only give a shit about yourselves thats why your country is so fucked up, live the australian way of life and you will see the difference.

oh and the reason why Silverchair phase in and out of American popularity is because Daniel Johns has arthritis in his hands, he was going to quit, but he sang solo for a while and reunited back with the band to play guitar again.

Just a note to point out we in NZ (a totally different country from Australia, although geographically nearby) recently had our music awards too. Not that I think they were at all remarkable. Silverchair = good stuff; really maturing. Keith Urban = shouldn't that be ONLY country album?
As an Aussie who lives in Canada, I'm estactic to see some news about Australia's fantastic bands/artists making the news in the USA. Congratulations to Josh Pike and Gotye - look them up and check out their music.
And by the way, to you WFT Moment, Australia has to put with USA crap TV and music for too long - now it's time for you to learn about something great that's outside of America.

i'm really happy with the way the arias went this year. i reckon everyone got the awards they deserved, and it was great to see nick cave inducted into the hall of fame. i reckon perez would love sarah blasko. she's so awesome. don't you just want to moosh her?
i'm a californian who's been living in australia for the past 10 months… and seriously everyone, this music is excellent. i especially recommend Gotye and Josh Pyke… and Silverchair's new album is incredible too.
