A Second Serving

Because mainstream Hollywood has few original ideas….

NBC is developing a spin-off of The Office.

Like Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy, new characters will be introduced on a special episode of The Office. Unlike that ABC show, however, none of the original Office stars are expected to transition over to the new show.

Spin-offs are cute, but why not attempt a revival or reinterpretation of an old show?

We'd love to see a new Diff'rent Strokes or Facts of Life!

The British, i.e the original, version of The Office is miiiiiles better than this lame shit. You Americans just don't understand this kind of humor. Stick to your own fake, anemic Yank humor.

Why can't they just leave it, and end on a high note. I heard the American version of the office was really good. Ricky Gervais had the right idea to just make two series of the British version, and leave on a high!

I just don't understand what you mean. I think it is a great idea to take an already horrible show and spin off another shittier less creative spawn there from. Now I will admit I did not watch the NBC version of The Office for a full year cause of the whole stealing BBC ideas, but once I did watch it……I loved it!!! But Why in the Fuck would they make a spin off? I mean come on, what could they spin off if there is not going to be any characters leaving the original Office

      43

there is absolutely no reason why this shouldn't work just fine…one idea (found this on another board) would be that the spin-off could be about Vance Refrigeration ….now THAT could be a funny premise… also, it's not like it'd be stealing good ideas from The Office…it'd be another team entirely that would be working on it… my guess is that only the mock 'docu' style would copied..

i think it'd be fine…i think i can handle another half hour of good comedy done in the same vein as the office…bring it on….

      Re: Jasmine
I am American, but I grew up on British humor and I love it. I love both versions of the Office, but I love the American one more, probably just cause I relate to the characters more cause I myself am American. I understand loving the British version, but don't diss the American version cause it is just as brilliant (Ricky produces and writes for it also). It's still got the same element of wry wit and satire as the original.

But the spin-off idea is stupid.. they better not be taking any writers from the show.

    45. MandyJean says – reply to this

      45

Re: Jasmine – Fuck off, you stupid Brit. You are a total stereotypical nose-in-the-air pompous ass. The US had a lot more to do with the humor in the UK than the UK does themselves. Go watch Friends or Sex in the City, bitch. Because the Queenie-poo had nothing to do with them. We gave you Sex in the City, you gave us Mr.Bean. Point made.

And no, the Brit version of the Office is not even close to being as funny as the US version. The characters are poorly developed, the dialog doesn't nearly flow as well, and the story lines aren't really as well written.

So, I'd be really interested in how the creators of Footballers Wives managed to rip of a show that hadn't even been devised at such a point on the shit TV time-line
(for the record; I think both shows are lame as fuck, but I will happily argue the matter of your idiocy, no matter how terrible the subject matter may be)

Re: MandyJean – Also; given that you may not know (or likely, won't care about) many of those titles; there are always the immortal two words that pertain to fabulously good British comedy (as well as the foundation for a plethora of amazing comedy in both the UK and US); Monty Python..
I challenge you to find a decent comedian who wasn't influenced by their works in one way or another.

Just so you know; Spotted Dick is a British pudding(desert), rather than a euphemism for genitalia as you seemed to imply it.. (clever attempt, but somehow lacking in delivery… sad but true..) It's thoroughly amusing - not to mention rather clearly dictating your lack of braincells - that you were trying to insult someone by telling someone to 'shove it in their desert'..
Also, an American using the word Chav is just downright ludicrous - and seeing as you used the word 'dolescum' as well (which should actually be two words given that it lends it's name from members of the British public that gain their weekly income from the dole office - 'dole scum'.. Get it yet?) I can only imagine that you're a fan of some British comedy to be using associated expressions so willingly… Which, kinda fucks your point sideways when you think about it.. But, never mind.. Your point blew more cock that Jenna Jameson to begin with…
