The Heroes TV star recently went on a mission to Japan to help save the dolphins. Unfortunately, she and a few of her activist friends got into a violent confrontation with some local fisherman determined to complete their annual slaughter.
The 18-year-old actress paddled out on a surfboard in an attempt to reach a pod of helpless dolphins to stop them from being driven into a nearby cove and killed.
But she and her fellow surfers were intercepted by a fishing boat before they could reach the dolphins. The fishermen used the boat's propellers to block their way and at one point struck out with a boathook.
It was an ugly and potentially life-threatening confrontation that lasted more than 10 minutes before Hayden and crew were forced to return to the beach.
An emotional Panettiere later spoke out about the incident.

I think it's great that someone like hayden is getting involved in work of this kind, and I totally agree that whats going on is horrific, but, to be honest, there are worse problems which we are facing; world hunger, poverty, aids, pollution, global warming…

Wondering why they kill the dolphin's? Are they killed for food? It's terribly sad, however like the journalist said, the fisherman kill the dolphins for money. Supply and demand, if these fisherman weren't needed to kill these dolphins, they would fish for a different money resource.
The question is why are the dolphins killed, perhaps her celebrity would be best served starting at the top of the chain. Instead of a last minute attempt to release the already "ordered" dolphins.

I love dolphins too and hate the dolphin killers. She's rad. When I was 18 I would have done something like that. It's wonderful to see a starlet with a brain and an awareness of something other than crack, cock and couture.

I saw this on UK Sky News. It was heartbreaking the way the Japanese fishermen were hoarding the dolphins into this place and then KILLING THEM. I cried when I saw this. Wot is wrong with these people??? Apparently, it is for SUSHI.
