TALK SHOW HOST TYRA BANKS DEDICATES AN ENTIRE SHOW TO “DOWN THERE,” “GROUND ZERO” AND “HOO HA” — OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE VAGINA, ON “THE TYRA BANKS SHOW” AIRING ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5
Talk show host dedicates an entire hour to discussing the vagina with her audience, on “The Tyra Banks Show,” airing on Monday, November 5 (check local listings for stations and times). From the look of the vagina to the newest ways to prevent HPV, Tyra holds a no-holds barred discussion with her audience about the least talked (and looked at) about part of a woman’s part. Tyra says, “I have wanted to do this show for two years. I know for a lot of women talking about what is going on in our bodies is extremely difficult, but it is incredibly important. We should be able to talk to our daughters, sisters, mothers and friends about our bodies and not be embarrassed. I hope after this show women will not be ashamed about what’s up down there.”
Tyra begins the hour giving her audience a test to see if they can name all the parts of the vagina to unbelievable results – only 11% of her audience filled out the anatomical chart correctly. Shocked by the results, Tyra welcomes gynecologist Dr. Debby Herbenick to give her viewers a quick tour of their nether regions with a velvet and satin “vagina puppet” pointing out the clitoris, the labia minora and labia majora and the urethra.
Having avoided the doctor for 28 years, Tyra takes a Plano, Texas woman, who happens to be a registered nurse, to her very first gynecological appointment. After the woman breaks down in tears, Tyra gives her support and holds her hand of the woman while she has her first PAP test and breast exam with Dr. Michelle Francis of New York. Tyra says, “As we were getting closer to the exam, I could literally feel how tense she was.” Tyra welcomes the woman and Dr. Francis back to her stage to talk about her experience and to give her the results of her PAP – and to make her promise to go again next year.
Also on the show, Tyra introduces gynecologist Dr. Donnica Moore who educates Tyra’s audience on the importance of PAP smears and the newest vaccination for young women that can prevent the human papillomavirus – a virus that can cause cancer.
Tyra also shares with the audience the moment her mother gave her a hand mirror and told her to look at herself “down there.” Tyra says, “My mother told me to look at myself because, ‘It’s just another part of your body that needs to be healthy just like your eyes, your nose, your ears, your mouth and everything else.’”
On the other hand, Pete Doherty was also part of the show in Munich, and he was pretty damn good!

I've never seen the Tyra Banks show (I live in the UK)..But i got to say good on her, it's about good health. And childish people think it's a joke or is disgusting to talk about,,,grow up and don't watch it.
The vaccine is safe, they aren't dangerous in themselves - it's only the additives such as mercury (no longer used) that are a health risk. Believe me, its better than cervical cancer. Women should love their bodies, take care of them and be proud to do so.

Awesome! She's really been pushing the envelope this season and I love it! The body suits this week were great and now this? Fantastic! Unfortunately, I'm not really a big fan of her delivery and interview style… but as long as she's bringing on important issues that effect all women I'll watch those episodes.
BRAVO! Ignorance of one's body is the worst kind of ignorance… how are you supposed to know when things are not right with yourself if you don't even know what's supposed to be right? So many teenagers and even grown women end up pregnant or with STDs that can cause irreparable damage to their reproductive system because they don't know enough about their bodies or what can happen to it. And do you know how many women DON'T get PAP smears every year? Lots! I'm glad she's trying to bring this kind of awareness to women.
I think this is a great idea. Kudos to Tyra for educating women about their vagina's. It is extremely important that we take women's health seriously. It's so much easier to talk about the penis in public because we live in a male dominated society in which it is okay to do so. It's about time that we support open discussions about women's health in the mass media, too.

This is amazing! I am so proud of Tyra for actually doing this. Althought I'm not comfortable pushing the new vaccine on young girls (it's too new of a drug) I still think its important for EVERYONE to know all the parts of their bodies, the parts they can see and more importantly, the parts they cant see. I'm not a Tyra Banks fan, but kudos to her for doing this show. I'm currently battling cancer. It's been a long, hard fight going into my second year, but the cancer is going into remission. If Tyra (or any celebrity) can save one woman from cancer by discussing vaginal health, that's a worthwhile effort. Go Tyra!

If you think this is pure comedy you sure don't work in the healthcare field like I do. Ignorance of this stuff can be fatal for women. There's nothing funny about breast cancer, cervical cancer, HPV. No one dealing with this stuff finds sexual health to be a funny subject. Nor do family members of women who've died from these diseases. Ignorance and fear is what prevents women from getting life saving checkups. Lots of people unfortunately haven't grown up emotionally from their junior high school years where everything related to sex was hilarious or embarrasing. Part of being an adult is to get beyond that place; sadly this story is only an illustration of how someone's emotional development hasn't progressed past junior high school levels.
I'm sorry, but I believe that story about her mother handing her the mirror and asking her to take a look "down there" about as much as I believed the last story about a bigfoot sighting. Never happened.
