Quote Of The Day

"Now more than ever the world has to come together to make changes. Just because certain cultures have had long-standing traditions does not mean that in today's world they are acceptable any longer. The world and the environment are evolving and that means we must change our ways as human beings as well."
The dolphins and whales in our ocean are a part of a larger eco-system that prevents the killing off of other marine life. By destroying these animals and not allowing our future generations to enjoy their beauty, we are causing our own selves damage. I always felt the need to speak on behalf of these helpless creatures who can not defend themselves.
Because I am in the public eye I feel the need to be a voice of worthy and important causes whose efforts impact the lives of every person on Earth. These animals are being brutally and unnecessarily slaughtered – and who are we to say to they have less of a right to exist than we do."

Shes awesome!
Shes awesome!
I never really appreciated this actress. I thought she was full of herself and only cared about herself and all her 'toys' that make her 'happy'. Now I have total and utter respect for her. It is amazing that she is so passionate about animal cruelty. Not many people know about the dolphin issue going on in Japan and I was shocked that a celebrity fought for the dolphins. Way to go Hayden!
how about global warming? the crisis in darfur?
but no, a mass genocide and demise of the world as we know it isn't as important as DOLPHINS.
COME ON GUYSSSSSSSS
Re: Sunny Sam –
human flesh is eatable… just because we CAN eat dolphins does not mean it is morally acceptable. dolphins are the second most intellegent animal on earth next to…HUMANS. One of the most fundamental tests for morality that humanity has utterly failed is in how we treat our FELLOW ANIMALS…those who are defenceless…eating intelligent animals such as dolphins who have SELF AWARENESS is unethical and wrong and cannot be compared with eating chicken or tuna etc…
Is this seriously a "released statement"? What kind of publicist would allow her to release something with such blatant errors?
Are we doing damage to "our own selves" or "ourselves"? Ick. This "statement" needs help on so many levels.
you guys are being ruddde have you ever seen the cause that hayden is fighting for? shame on you guys
Re: gimmiemore – Yep, I agree with you, but there's a big diference in what concerns the eco-system: the beef and chicken that go into our plates are brought up for that - they are only born to be killed and become food. If we didn't eat them, there would not be so many.
On the contrary, dolphins and whales reproduce themselves and are captured on their natual environments, so the ones that are killed do make a damage in the nature's balance.
But as I said, I agree with you, when she says "and who are we to say to they have less of a right to exist than we do" that should not only apply to "pretty" animals that people make movies about, but also so our everyday meat.
I do wander why people are so aggressive. She spoke out about what she believes. If any of you not-so-important people spoke the same message, nobody would attack you and accuse you of trying to get a tax break.
I like this chick, she could've been out snorting coke and making sex tapes like rest of teen hollywood, but this is a worthy cause. Plus i'm a marine scientist so extra points from me! But the wailing on the beach was a bit OTT.
Back off Perez - you should be congratulating her - she's my hero!! I still love you though…
mmmmm… dolphins mmmmmm whales
To all the people that are saying that animals are not as important as humans—> u guys are fucked in the head. HAVE U SEEN THE VIDEO/THE NEWS on the way they slaughter dolphins in Japan? The whole damn lake was filled with blood. It was so traumatising and it's all humans' fault. Everybody needs to step back and remember that yes, even though there are organisations out there that are doing their best to help the animals, they are still defenseless against man-made weapons. And they have every right to life as much as we do.
And i agree that climate change, famine and cancer are all important issues too that need to be addressed. But there are way more organisations supporting human issues than animals. And they're the defenseless ones. I'm glad that Hayden is speaking out and she was actually one of the protesters in Japan, swimming out to the lake where the dolphins were held and about to be killed to try and stop this.
Humans are so selfish.
I love Hayden, she's a good kid. At least she is not like most other hollywood celebs boozing it up falling out of clubs and getting drugged up every night. I always liked her work on heroes and this is great. Keep going Hayden we love ya!
Seriously, anyone that calls her "ugly" is CLEARLY jealous, hands down. She is flawless and one of the hottest girls out there, deal with it and leave her alone. Go drool over Meth Face Fergie or something.
I love Hayden and I love Halo!!! But it's so sad how she tries to prove that she's not thick, but comes across as really thick in the process. I'm sure she's a nice enough girl, but i agree with Perez, she's the next Li-Lo…hope it doesn t happen to her, but with a mother like hers?
