Yes, I Am

Cate Blanchett has put speculation to rest. The Oscar-winning actress confirmed at the Sydney premiere of her new film, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, on Saturday night that she is pregnant.

"Yes, I am," said the mother of two boys.

"It's early days yet. It's due in April," added Blanchett, who said she did not know the sex of the new baby.

It's cool that she's pregnant. It looks good on her.
But something that bugs me about pregnant women and women pushing strollers is they expect you to drop everything and help them 100% of the time just because you're not pregnant or pushing a stroller of your own. If I'm tired and I don't feel like helping you, then I won't do it and I ain't gonna feel guilty about it. Child-free people are busy and have lives too. I work for a living. My taxes pay for your child tax credit and your day-care subsidy.
I know that pregnant woman are not completely helpless. My sister worked 2 jobs while pregnant and continued to do so after the birth. If anyone thinks I'm mean or selfish for saying these things, then I don't fucking care.
Have not seen Elizabeth 2 yet. Hope to do so in the next month.

Its nice that someone is so honest about her pregnancy. It is unfortunate that she had to announce it so early (the media was probably bugging her). Alot of women have miscarriages, especially as they get a bit older, so I can see why sometimes they wait to announce it. None the less its great news for her, and her two older children.

Re: RenB – Yes, I think you must be in the minority on that opinion. This woman is gorgeous, and she has curves. Angelina and Jessica are beautiful too, but in a thin way. You seem to have a thing for thin brunettes, maybe that's why Cate doesn't do it for you. I'm African-American, and I think this woman has a mature, mysterious look to her which I find attractive…not to mention the curves. Usually I find brunettes (both men and women–although I'm straight) more attractive myself, but there are a few exceptions: Cate and Jodie Foster being two blonde women that I think are gorgeous.

Actually, 'Education 101', sex (ual orientation, more specifically) refers not just to what/who you do, but what anatomical bits & pieces you have. So to ask after the sex of the baby is quite correct. Now, whether or not the baby identifies with his/her bits & pieces, and how it acts as a 'boy' or 'girl' is, as you suggest, 'gender'. So you can give PH a wee break on this one.
