that doesn't make any sense. there are fat people in america, so stop selling fatty foods? Its about the choices people make. I like my fatty food. There are also ugly people in this world, should we also have an amendment against them? she'd be banned surely then.

Oh come one Perez! You are a vegan? What is up with supporting this craziness. You need to take a good hard look at what she is asking you to support BEFORE you do something stupid!

      59

      Boring

    60. person says – reply to this

      60

She's right though. What she means is that the government subsidizes things like sugar and other icky crap, and that's why it's cheaper to buy twinkies than it is an apple. It's a large reason why many families with low incomes are often obese

    61. Mila says – reply to this

Oh come one Perez! You are a vegan? What is up with supporting this craziness. You need to take a good hard look at what she is asking you to support BEFORE you do something stupid!

Vegetables aren't food! Vegetables are what food eats! Someone throw me a steak!

    62. Shireen says – reply to this

      62

on second thought, after listening to it again, it kinda sounds like she is just trying to push involuntary veganism on people which is NOT cool. I mean, I'm not worried about it happening, but still. I like her other ventures in saving the envirnment, but I love my meat and cheese, and kids need that stuff to or they will end up looking all yellow and fragile like most vegans/some vegetarians.

I really respect and adnire vegans and vegetarians, but pushing for everyone else to be that way is not fair, and actually kind of going against the laws of nature.

    63. Pam says – reply to this

      63

      Good job Alicia….I'm with ya!

Kids are eating too much meat and dairy. More vegetables and fruits are needed. Those of you that don't get it really need to get educated. The kids on my athletic teams (I'm a coach) can barely run 100 yards. In their lunch boxes are loads of meat and the consume one or more boxes of milk at lunch. I cringe. Just go to the mall and see all the overweight teens…it's so sad, they will only continue to gain as they age without the proper nutrition.

People, pay attention! The ones who build the food pyramids are the ones who are connected to the meat and dairy councils. A little research goes a long way.

Keep up the good work Alicia.

      71

Educate yourselves people. The girl is right. You still have a choice to eat whatever you want to including steak with butter, and polish it off with a milkshake, BUT should the government be subsidizing such food when the majority of Americans are overweight? She is isn't trying to eliminate freedom of choice, just encourage instead fresh and healthy alternatives.

    72. The ORIGINAL Brainiac says – reply to this

      72

Bath products and Pro-Active are still important whether you're a vegan or not.

Re: aDORAble – #2 YOU ARE THE FUG BITCH! Brave little asswipe hiding in cyber land so you can talk shit about other people trying to do something good. I know her message has gone way over your stupid head - it's for those with some intelligence. So you just keep on trashing people and then go stuff your face with a greasy meat and potato supper followed by that pie ala mode. I'll bet you weigh 300 pounds - PIG!

    74. Cleo says – reply to this

      74

Re: Shireen – She says nothing in her message about choice. Eat all the meat and cheese that you want, but should the government be subsidizing it, while the majority of Americans are overweight? Doesn't make a ton of sense. Removing the subsidizes won't eliminate meat or dairy from the supermarket, you could still eat as much as you wanted. As a vegetarian myself, I am a huge believer in freedom of choice. No one including Alicia wants to force anyone to do anything, just make healthier choices more available.

Laziness is what's REALLY fueling childhood obesity.

    89. victoria says – reply to this

      89

If there are people out there that STILL believe that red meat and cow's milk are the best sources of iorn and calcium then they should get out of the rock they have been living under for the last ten years. Alicia is rad…. and the fact that there are people out there that are more interested in what she looks like in this picture than the message that she is trying to get across says alot more about them than it does about her.

    90. Blunt says – reply to this

      90

Like Silverstone, I soooo think poor kids should not be subsidized for meat (protein) or dairy (calcium for growing bones) or other foods. Like Silverstone, they can be subsidized instead for vegetarian fare at their closest organic health food store, which for most poor kids, is probably 9 or 10 neighbourhoods, bus rides and 9 or 10 income brackets away. Pffft.
You have to subsidize in a way that WORKS locally and realistically. Very few can access the haute Hollywood 'grocery' stores. Very few poor have the ways, means, time or will to cook or 'go organic'. I'm slim, fit, active, eat well, consume 8 or 9 fruits and veggies a day plus meat and dairy. I've also eaten a lot of vegetarian dishes, and the fact remains that most taste like utter crap. Big brother doesn't have the smokers to go after anymore, so now are trying to turn the subsidized poor (who have little enough to look forward to) into VEGANS? OMG. Why is it that every vegan I've ever know tries to force their regimin on everybody else? Misery loves company? I'm soooo going to go have a steak or some nice BBQ'd chicken now.
Lastly, spare us all from the food police. They took the transfat out of Oreos in Canada and now they taste lousy. Educate people and then give the subsidized poor the bloody dignity and the right to choose for themselves.

      Re: Lori

Beef takes longer to digest than white meat. I once gave up wheat, caffine, sugar, alcohol, fish, meat and dairy for a month on a detox. I was craving like no-ones business but I lost nearly a stone in the process. It gradually all piled back on again when I went back to shopping at Marks and Spencer and eating their lovely lasagnas….. Ah those were the days….

ANYWAY: Have a colonic people. They are very healthy and pleasantly relaxing (until the bit when you get to all the trapped wind and you feel like you're going to shit the pipe out into the therapists face, that's a bit uncomfy….). You'll come out feeling all smiley, cleansed and toxin free. I have one several times a year. I do love a pipe up my arse…..

      99

I think the problem with obsesity here in America is that it is cheaper to eat badly than eat healthily. Also, part of the blame must also lie with restaurants, say, Olive Garden, who whilst they do have a healthy option on their menu, when they bring it out it is so huge it could go around a family of four. So what's the point in that? Healthy option should also be healthy portions.

So like, right now for example. The Haitians need to come to America. But some people are all, "What about the strain on our resources?" Well it's like when I had this garden party for my father's birthday, right? I put R.S.V.P. ’cause it was a sit-down dinner. But some people came that like did not R.S.V.P. I was like totally buggin'. I had to haul ass to the kitchen, redistribute the food, and squish in extra place settings. But by the end of the day it was, like, the more the merrier. And so if the government could just get to the kitchen, rearrange some things, we could certainly party with the Haitians. And in conclusion may I please remind you it does not say R.S.V.P. on the Statue of Liberty. Thank you very much.
