Julia Louis Dreyfous joined the writers on strike in picketing the set of Desperate Housewives in LA on Tuesday.
During the demonstration, Eva Longoria came out to show her support. And do a few interviews while she was at it!
The chat shows are currently dark and production on most scripted shows has stopped.
Negotiations between the Writers Guild and Producers Guild have yet to resume.

Is there a place where I can write what my thoughts are about this strike? These writers need all the support they can get! And you idiots that have posted the above comments how no idea how big of a deal this is……The writers are getting ripped off and them being ripped off means the rest of us underneath them are going to feel the wrath pretty soon too.. You don't know what you are talking about. I am a writer and a producer in Los Angeles. Writers DO NOT make tremendous amounts of money. I write for the love of it. I produce to make a living. It would help if you at least knew something about that of which you are talking instead of just going on assumptions to hear your own head rattle from the sound of your words.
Talk shows are affected because they have writers. Anything that has writers will be affected. That's pretty much anything that isn't reality tv. Why don't you try feeding, housing, educating and clothing your family on 4 cents a dvd.

Of course the actors like Eva care. If they don't act they don't make money. If they don't have scripts they don't act, their shows close down. Try that for 6 months or so like it was 22 years ago for the last strike. SAG went out in sympathy last time. They can't this time without risk of fines because they have a new contract that prevents it, but don't think for a minute that the bigger stars from your favorite shows won't strike anyway or join the picket line because they can afford the fines and because they want these writers back to work for their own benefit. There is great solidarity in our industry and we will support one another as much as we can. Beyond that, last time directors went out on strike or refused to cross the picket lines as well. Grips, bestboys, hair and make up people, etc. When the shows close down all of these background people who make nearly nothing are also out of work and their families suffer. Think people. 4 cents. That's how producers do it $1 for them and 4 cents for the writers.

The average working writer in Hollywood makes a modest living if they work at all (well below what the studios are reporting) and when they do it's seasonal, so they only get paid for the weeks they work, not all year long. Talks are not between Writers Guild and Producers Guild, it's between Writers Guild and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, who represent the studios. Producers Guild is not involved.

To Whocares - Umm… just to clarify Eva is NOT Puerto Rican, she's Mexican-American. Her husband Tony is in fact, French… but not by birth. He was actually born in Belgium to an African-American father and a Dutch mother (Dutch meaning she is from Holland or The Netherlands). I'm not exactly sure how he gained French citizenship… that's a whole different matter. If you care so much about their (Eva and Tony's) respective "backgrounds", you should at least post based on fact instead of retarded misconceptions or opinions.

For anyone who says writers on successful t.v. shows make shitloads of money - you have no idea what you are talking about. My father was a writer on some of the most successful t.v. shows: Happy Days, Partridge Family, Love American Style, All in the Family, etc. He did not make much at all, especially considering the money these shows brought in. It wasn't until he became a PRODUCER of successful television shows that he made a butt load. My brother is now a t.v. writer and he lives in a tiny apartment in Venice Beach and can't afford good health insurance. WRITERS are the reason these shows are successful. If actors get MILLIONS per episode writers should certainly get a f'in cut!
