The Toriphiles are all abuzz this morning!
Tori Amos stunned many fans in Chicago last night with her performance of Me And A Gun, the seminal song off her debut album that talks about rape.
Dressed as her "Pip" character, Tori did the usually acapella song with her full band AND at the end of the song she brought out some props - a gun and a knife.
Heavy!
On a lighter note, Tori debuted Raspberry Swirl for the first time this tour. It's the first time she's played that song in YEARS.

i'm so glad you posted this. i was at both shows (the debut of "swirl" and last night's)…last night was super intense. the props added so much more intesity to the already haunting song. it was extremely moving, scary, crazy all wrapped up into one. she rubbed the knife all over her body and then pulled out the gun and put it to her head. then at the end she aimed the gun out in the audience. it was performance art at its best. and before anyone says anything stupid, the song is about her own experience with sexual assault. the guy actually held a knife to her, but in the song it's a gun. the real point of the song is her singing about the things that go through your head when you are put in a situation like that…the things you haven't done, the things you want to do, etc. YAY!

I am so sorry I missed this! I LOVE Tori - thanks for posting this, Perez! I was at the Detroit show, but no Pip or SWIRL - just Santa, which was still a treat. And for all of you who are bashing Tori over making a "career of being raped" I can only hope none of you have to experience that in your lives. She's fucking crazy and fucking beautiful - I was at the NYC show, and there was no pip- only Santa. To be able to face such a horrible part of your past is brave and should be commended.
I went to the show on Saturday in Milwaukee and she was fierce!!!! Amazing and totally captivating. She is a true preformer!! Love her, love her!! That song is so touching to so many women that have gone through the same experience!! That's what makes her a genious!!!
I am going to be catching the Austin show. As if I wasn't thrilled already, now I will be on the look out for props and swirl =)

Tori Amos is amazing. So crazy talented, so beautiful.
I saw her in Indy on Friday.
She had a couple of great moments.
Otherwise, like the review said on Saturday. Tori….there was too much new stuff in the show, and the only only truly great parts of the performance were your old stuff.
You really need to make one of your people sit out in the audience and watch your show and give you honest feedback.

i consider myself a toriphile but this last album really didin't get to me at all. sorry but i just don't feel it, i don't get it. i prefer her with a piano…not electric guitars and shit. and this video was just kind of creepy. but i guess it's also the timing…news today in scandinavia (i live in stockholm and i'm part finnish) have been domnated by a high school massacre that occured in finland today so i guess guns are not my favourite props today. 7 or 8 people were killed, it's very sad so my heart goes out to all of the pupils in that school. may their souls rest in peace.

Have you ever seen her playing two different pianos at the same time while singing? She's great and a hell of a lot more talented than most rock stars.
