The Hogans Issue A Statement

"Nick and the entire 'Hogan' Bollea family are saddened that criminal charges have been filed in regards to the tragic single car accident on August 26, 2007. Nick will meet and answer these charges in the appropriate arena – a court of law. The family's primary focus and concern still remains for the continued recovery of Nick's longtime friend John Graziano. The Bolleas will also continue to stand by the Graziano family and help them in any way they can.
The tragedy to both families is compounded by the fact that unfortunately John was not wearing his seatbelt. Thankfully, Nick was wearing his. Because of what happened to John, the entire Bollea family will make it a priority to increase public awareness about the importance of always wearing your seatbelt.
There has been much speculation as to the speed and wet road conditions surrounding this accident. Although all the evidence has not been evaluated, preliminary reports from the experts indicate that this was not, in fact, a high-speed accident.
Because Nick is still a juvenile and has no prior criminal record, we are disappointed that he is being charged as an adult offender. However, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that this was an accident. We ask all who follow these events to keep an open mind as to the facts until they have been ultimately determined. Finally, we thank all who have prayed for John's recovery and ask for your continued support and prayers."

sounds to me like the Hogan family thinks the charges are bullshit and theyeven go as far as implying that it was the other guy's fault because he didn't have a seatbelt on.
He should of had it on of course….but that Nick has huge issues with cars and going way too fast. Which was made very clear in their little reality show when, in one episode he took the car and rased it and the cops brought him home.

Blame the victim, NICE! They couldn't have taken responsibility ONE TIME? If Nick drove his car with a passenger not wearing a seatbelt, that is his fault and his fault only. HE has the responsibility for the safety of everyone in his vehicle.
Clearly his parents didn't teach him the basic rules and laws from the time he was little. I remember my parents refusing to start the car and leave if everyone wasn't buckled up, and if one child refused or argued, we'd sit there until it was done.
I've wanted to believe in this family and their basic good natures from the time I started watching Hogan Knows Best, but to blame John and basically say it's his fault while being "thankful" that Nick wore his seatbelt and is ok, is just TACKY TACKY TACKY.

Re: Lena – This is ridiculous. Nick, as the driver, is responsible for the safety of his passengers. He knew enough to buckle up himself. He clearly had no problem racing another car while speeding on wet streets while drinking and driving (underage and illegally!) with a passenger NOT wearing a seatbelt. What part of this is somehow blameless and accidental? If he made sure all passengers were buckled up and if he was not racing, sober, and doing the speed limit then none of this would have ever happened.
