It's Gonna Take More Than That

The governor of Georgia, Sonny Perdue, is praying for rain.

Georgia is going through one of their worst droughts in history and they could be out of drinking water in a handful of months, so the governor is holding a prayer service next week.

Oh, boy. God help them indeed!

Re: Tammy – i really don't like saying this to people, but why don't you just leave gerogia for good. more water for others who actually love and care about this state…and have you seen the flag you're probably refering to flying high above our states capitol? no, that's because there is nothing to do with a "rebel flag" or whatever you're thinking is there because it was changed a few years ago. 10 kids per family? wow, what a stereotype. go somewhere else please because we don't need thinking or hate like that here. aND TO sTEPHEN, #305, I don't think she was comparing the two events at all, becasue obviousley they are nothing alike and 9/11 was such a terrible tragedy. i simply think she is saying that like we were praying for the people going through their hard time during 9/11 she will pray for our hard time..no matter the difference in severity.

Please do. The overpopulation problem has more to do with the large amount of people moving into the state rather than the procreative abilities of its natives. Plus, people like you drag the grammar curve down for the rest of the state.

I did read that we will have a wonderful pecan crop this year, but there are issues with the cows.

In my time spent on the internet, I've learned a lot of people prefer to believe the stereotypical redneck makes up the entirety of the southern population. It's a sad attempt to continue to displace racism onto the shoulders of someone besides themselves.

The drought is a very serious situation. We are under Level IV restrictions and even my 5 year old knows a bath is a luxury and only a short shower is a necessity and allowable. Conservation is the key. It is a shame that the encroaching suburbs have not kept up with demand and large cities like Atlanta have failed to stay on top of this. THAT is why we are having problems along with the fact that we have rec'd less than half the amount of rainfall normal for our state. Florida and Alabama, who feed off of Georgia's water supply, have not implemented the water restrictions we have in our state. Until ALL parties involved begin to help each other out, this will not get better. I do believe that praying is a hopeful answer.

How does a comment about a state in drought cause such hatred in people? Who has the right to judge someone becuase of where they live? So many of you are ignorant, look at what you are saying. Everyone has the right to vote or not to vote for officials. Everyone has the right to their own religious beliefs. Everyone has the right to say their opinion. No one has the right to hate someone for being human. People who live in the state of Georgia are human. Not all are perfect or friendly, but that doesn't make it ok for you to hate them. Judging people by sterotypes is ignorant. Everyone has the right to an education in Georgia, some choose not to take it. Does that make all of us stupid or "redneck?" No. If someone takes the time to better their life and educate themself, why put them down? I have learned in life to except people for who they are, not what they are. I love living in Georgia. I would never put someone down if they were having hardships in their life. Instead of prayer and rain we need humanity. Just a thought.

Here in Georgia, I think people are obviously concerned with the environment. And although it is just now coming to the forefront that pollution and abuse of natural resources affects everyone, most of the people I come in contact with are limiting their usage of water. Even simply turning the faucet off while brushing your teeth helps.

      Re: Amanda Taylor

People who pray don't just pray for serious matters that affect thousands like natural disasters - they pray for basketball teams and cars and fame. People pray for what suits them at the particular moment, out of their own vanity. Lots of us have given Christianity many chances, and it failed us each time. Secondly, I'm tired of American Christians whining about "intolerance" because people are finally starting to wake up and see the truth organized religion. You want to talk about intolerance? Talk to a Muslim or a Jew - or even an atheist. Christianity is the majority religion in this country, so that religion accordingly will be the first to be questioned by the enlightened and evolved.

I don't even know where to begin with the statement on African tribes. You complain that "the majority of you" (again, a very vague statement used in the absence of real evidence) would "endorse" an African tribal rain dance. What point are you even trying to make? That secular Americans hate Christianity so much that we would be more likely to believe that nonsense? A rain dance is a rain dance. All organized religion is about mind control and superstition. Do you honestly think I'd put more stock in an African tribal dance than Christianity? If that is true, I am in as much trouble as you are.

      Lady, quit being a victim.

      Re: sk
You people are stuck with your houses. That's funny, I sold mine just in time. A house with no water, looks like we are moving into the 1800's. Maybe, if some people didn't take 2 showers a day, you would have water…maybe if your parents didn't have 10 kids and 33 grandkids, there would be water..maybe, if someone believed in abortion or birth control, there might be water. Boy, your state is the stupidest state around. You probably still have your OUTHOUSES, at least you can take a shit in there without flushing.

and to the"unchristian women"…your life really sucks don't it? You said that you lived in a trailer and junk cars were on your lawn and you have 8 kids, that's a nice life you got there..I wouldn't be worrying about my spelling issue's if I were you. If I were you, I'd leave the trailer and run for the hills in the North, at least they have running water springs, unlike your stupid state. Enjoy your WATERLESS life..I can smell your stinkin ass already.

Apparently your inability to master the English language creates quite a problem in reading comprehension for you. So sad. I said YOUR trailers don't count as houses, Forrest Gump.

And you've yet to tell me which republican senator's voting record you were referring to in one of your garbled and idiotic posts.

Re: unchristian georgian – Thanks for the research. Tammy, the three tooth hooker, can't even make a good exaggeration. BTW, I work in the real estate industry. What can Tammy do to afford three houses with a fifth grade education and no language skills? I mean she would have had to put fairly large (10% minimum) down payments on each. I guess stupid people can get rich.

Your Republican Senator's Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambiss..some names you got there..for 5 years the Republican's had a to- do - nothing Congress and in the middle of the night back door bills passed in secret. This is how your Senator's care about your stupid state. They sat and did nothing. Mr. Veto says that he didn't veto anything for 5 yrs…he didn't have to..his Republican's licked his asshole those 5 yrs. and helped him change our Constitutional rights…so what, if we are going communist..like you care. Either way, your still running out of water and all your people care about is the oil…try drinking that shit, since it's so freaking important…you wished I lived in trailers like your broke ass does with Negro's surrounding you….no wonder your such a bitch…either way..your stuck in Georgia with no BATH WATER or
DRINKING WATER….that makes my day…bitch..enjoy your filthy life..maybe you can get all those Negro's that live next to you to piss on you for your bath…

Did you ask your child if your priest or pastor molested your kid? I'm not being a smart ass here, I was just wondering, since I was
molested by my priest with my parents in the next room. Parents, just because you are in a building called, "church"..please don't think everything is nice and sweet there. Remember one thing, people who work with our children, well, some of them have agenda's. Never trust someone just because of his or her job.

No more water for your peaches. Doesn't matter, they suck anyway. I am so glad I don't live in that state. How will these people live? The world is almost over. The Bible says that we will be thristy for water and the antichrist will give us blood to drink.
I licked my arm one day when it was bleeding and I got stoned off of my own blood.

My uncle lives in Georgia and he takes two showers a day. I thought that there was a restriction on water. He's been doing this for 25 years now. Someone needs to check these things out.
