Robin Williams and Julianne Moore were just two of the big name stars to picket with the writers on strike in NYC on Thursday.
All the members of the Screen Actors Guild were expected and hoped to have joined in solidarity.
Others walking the line outside the Time Warner center were David Duchovny, Tim Robbins, Richard Belzer, Roseanne Barr, David Hyde Pierce, Joan AllenM and Chris Meloni.
The same should be happening today in LA.

In another post, someone said actors are stupid. No, they aren't. They know once the strike is over, the writers can put them in the back of a scene where they just get to say "Yup" once in awhile. It's pretty darn smart for an actor to be in their good graces. Then they get nice juicy long monologues to play with.

About those rich Hollywood writers? The median annual income for a Writers Guild member is $5,000. That's because over half our membership are out of work in any given year. Of those who are working, the average annual income is $37,700. Not poverty. But certainly not riches either. This about corporate greed at the very top . . think Murdoch , Restone et al. Given that failed executives regularly get golden parachutes in the hundreds of millions of dollars, I'm thinking they have room to flex a couple of pennies fot those who create the material they make their BILLIONS off of.

Who are you people that think writers make a ton of money? Most of them don't. They do it because it's what they love and they wouldn't be happy doing anything else. Most of them had to work crappy coffee shop and retail jobs for years before they could even get someone to read what they were writing. They live off the residuals from previous work during their, typically, frequent bouts of unemployment. Do a little research before you start calling writers greedy for trying to get their fair share of the HUGE profits studios are making off of their work.

If this continues on, in JUNE all actors will be forced to go on strike as well. Studio execs are not backing down. actors, singers, directors have a talent. But its the words they speak that inspire us and help us to escape our lives…writers are behind that. It is not improve. I love t.v. and I love being entertained but respect and appreciate the people who create the lines that make us love the shows we love.

I work in the industry and I hope this fucking strike goes on forever. Go, producers! Make it work without the fucking talent. Middle America couldn't give a shit what you put on the air and in theaters - they'll see it anyway!
99% of America doesn't care about this pathetic strike. Based on the financial news du jour, it's really rough out there. Writers! Try living on commission only as I do in a very sucky real estate market so fuck you. You make $200K per year on average so get over yourself. The studios hire you to write a product. You write it, you turn it in, the check cashes. Services rendered, you're done. If the studio wants to throw it in the garage or sell it on the Internet they can do it. It's their property. You were paid regardless if the work turns out great or loses a ton of money for the person who paid you. Why don't you share in some of the risk? How about if you don't get paid a penny until the production is in the black? Oh no! We can't do that! We're too important. I am not a studio boss but I actually side with them on this. They take all the risk. You're a hired hand. And to the actors, you should cross the picket line as often as you can to work. This facade of support for the strike is weird. I bet you really wish you could cross so you can get the last of your paychecks that is about to roll in. I say fire all writers who are in unions, start over and bring back a capitalism to Hollywood that runs all the way down to coffee boy. It's an "at will" employment state. If you like your job and your employer likes you, you can stay. If not you can quit or be fired. Like the majority of American workers.
