Tom Cruise's Box Office Disaster

His golden streak is definitely over!

Tom Cruise's latest movie, Lion For Lambs, opened in the U.S. this weekend with a whimper.

The film came in at #4 with a measly $6.7 million take.

The #3 film took in three times as much as Cruise's film! That was Vince Vaughn's Fred Clause, which made $19.2 mill. The Clause film will also have much more staying power as it is a holiday flick and very family-friendly.

This does not bode well for Tom's new United Artist, as Lion For Lambs was the first film he did for the studio, which he's now a part of.

We're sure that Nazi film he's working on will do even worse!

Time for Mission Impossible 4. Like now.

I disagree with you Perez, this movie is the best movie I've seen in a long time. Maryl, Robert and Tom's are great in this movie, and so were the supporting actors. My boyfriend and I loved every single minute of it.

I saw this movie on Saturday night and it is still resonating with me today as an Australian. You should go and see this movie and then make a stupid worthless comment about one of the greatest actors of our time. You don't have to like Tom Cruise to appreciate his ability. Best social awareness movie i have seen this year.

There is one reason only for this movie's doing so poorly: It's trash. Total trash. Boring, insipid, heavy-handed, repetetive, trash. Oh, that, and Tom "Loves that Scientology crap" is in it.

Greetings, aliens. This is my favorite movie of all time. Here on Planet Suck-My-Dick, L. Ron Hubbard and I watch this flick and jerk off at the same timem. Scientology rocks when your dick is in Tom Cruise's mouth (or you imagine it is).

The best part of this movie is that, on leaving, everybody gets a free Scientology T-shirt to sop up the vomit invariably exiting one's body in forceful waves.

The Scientologists are gonna be pissed! Tom tithes each film's take to his favorite cult. After he skims off his "business expenses" (paying off body guards to pleasure him and other not-gay Scientologists), L. Ron & Company will receive about 12 cents on this shit pile of celluloid.

I saw this movie yesterday. Well, I saw about half. Walked out with the majority of people there mid-way. Utter boring garbage. I even agree with its premise, but I couldn't stand the preaching and moronic tone. Yes, it's important to think, but this movie only serves to lobotomize its patrons.

      213

Re: COCO – You weren't 'insulted and left' the movie. You actually walked out because you can't comprehend the message. If anyone has an agenda it's you, Lol, opening your comment with B.S. like 'I’m 99% sure was financed by Chavez or somebody in the middle east that hate our military.' You foolishly and ignorantly say shame on Streep, Cruise, Redford and Hollywood for 'using movies as tools for communist propaganda.' No, Coco, kudos to these three and anyone who attempts to educate and inform in order to equip people to make wise, informed decisions for themselves. Why are you so afraid to look at the 360 degrees of these issues? Would you buy any big ticket item for yourself without looking at all pertinent information? Or do you tell the car dealer it's 'unpatriotic' and 'communist' of him if he's ethical enough to tell you the flip side about some of the problems with a specific car, that he's a 'disgrace' for telling you, and that he 'hates your country', and you 'just want to buy it, because it's American made, so just shut up.' This movie does NOT want to discredit the U.S.A., but wants to hold a mirror up to it. If you can't take the self reflection because it makes you uncomfortable to even think about it, let alone try to make things better because of what you saw in that mirror, I'm sure there's an ostrich hole somewhere you can stick your head into so you can again pretend to feel comfortable while others fight for peace.

4th is GREAT for a movie of this genre. With a 35 mill price tag, it'll be turning a profit before you blink. Imagine that. I'm definitely going to see it.
      I'm not afraid of information.
I can sit through more than a 15 or 30 second celeb entertainment clip and actually try to understand it all without walking out in frustration.

Ok first of all- I am so sick of Perez -that fat f..K- get it right. The movie met expectations. If he understood the business he would know that. It only cost 35mil to make. Its a small movie. Plus Tom is only in it for a small role. Its a Robet Redford Movie. Plus critics as well as I- who am in the biz thought Tom was amazing. I am so sick of Tom Cruise bashing!!!!!!!! He is an amazing and personable guy. Its an adult R rated small "thinking" movie that will generate profit over time…I am so tired of Perez bashing people and shit he knows nothing about. I am not reading this blog any more- Perez just disgust me- get a real job

Films do not get more PATRIOTIC than Lions for Lambs.
This film, just like any other important film is not and should not be about money.
This film uses the power of art and film to create immediate and positive change in people and society.
This film is about waking people up.
It’s about creating change in a world gone mad.
It’s about positive change in a country that desperately needs it.
It’s about helping people make informed decisions.
It’s about helping people realize that we are becoming a dumbed-down nation on the verge of collapse.
It’s about making you a more aware person and citizen.
This film will make it’s money in the long run, that’s pretty certain.
What isn’t certain is when the change happens in you.
      Go see this movie.
Until then, don’t comment on a subject you have no clue about.

It’s about creating change in a world gone mad.(No change will come out of this crap and the only mad people here is the Streep, Redford and Cruise, not the world)

Yes darling I did left the movie, and I was not the only one. You said I did not "comprehend the message", why? Because I disagree with it? You also said "kudos to these three and anyone who attempts to educate and inform". I got news for you, Hollywood is the last source were I want to be educated and informed. Historically people who pretend to "educate" only brought us stupidity and ignorance. Cruise, Redford and Streep are 3 multi millionairs idiots who want to demonstrate their "superiority", their "higher understanding" and "complexity", but people have seen that they are "intellectual paper tigers", their intellectualism is fraudelent and people despise their condescension.

This is not a movie, this is a 1-1/2 hour of propaganda against my country, the only thing they did was espousing their leftist ideology. This, in effect, is a self limiting aspect of "liberalsim" as it is defined today.

It’s about making you a more aware person and citizen.(I'm aware that a propaganda is used to change minds, but it must be good. This movie is bad)
This film will make it’s money in the long run, that’s pretty certain.(No it' won't, ask A Mighty Heart producers)
What isn’t certain is when the change happens in you.(Oh I'm changed already. This movie already did that, before I used to like Redford and Cruise, now I dispised them)
Go see this movie.(I did )

Why is everyone who is against killing innocent people in Iraq portrayed as anti American. The war was about W.O.M.D's weapons of mass destruction. Our government lied to the people, the united nations and the world. Our president knew that Iraq was no threat to the US or anyone else. Bring the troops home, they all want to come home, how is that anti American. Our government is run by defense companies and weapons manufacturer's. The military industrial complex gas run our government for 60 years. Two hundred billion dollars being spent on our president folly in Iraq this year, and he veto's a 30 billion dollar bill to make sure poor children in this country have health insurance. I want my tax dollars being spent on helping people in this country not being spent on killing innocent people in Iraq. Is it anti American not to support a war we invented for our financial gain. Help bring the troops home.

It is clear there are two sides, and I am sure that holds true for almost everything in life. What is also clear is that there is a tremendous amount of animosity, ignorance, and foul irrational personal attacks on behalf of those against it. On the other hand, the ones in favor where far more complelling and rational, so I went ahead and watched the flick this morning. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Finally a brilliant film that treats the audience with respect. I have always been a fan of Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, but hats off to Tom Cruise. I totally disliked him in the past, but now I`m a big fan. Hats off also to the two young actors whose charaters go to war. They are very talented, and the Mexican one is totally hot!

Lions for Lamb is a film which invites us to make a change, to be protective of our Country while being critical of our system. We should not conform!
Seinfeld's Bee movie is just the opposite. It promotes conformity through its characters; worker bees who rebel against their hive, but later conform to their mediocrity and accept they are meant to be worker bees. See that's the Jewish philosophy of control. They control the Media and use it to send messages of conformity to the stupid Americana. They don't like thougthful citizes but consumers who work as hard as bees to enrich their pockets.

For the rest of us: it was a boring, condescending, pseudo-intellectual rant of Redford's personal views on current world affairs. Redford is entitled to his opinion, but you shouldn't have to spend 10 dollars of your money and an hour and a half of your life watching this slow motion train wreck.

      Cruise never could act

Scientology, like all cults/myths is insane. We did not arrive via aliens nor were we molded out of clay (or a spare rib in the case of us sisters)

US foreign policy, like the foreign policy of all superpowers (the word empire isn't so fashionable these days but they are the same thing) particularly LONE powers is super exploitative towards everyone else.

This does not mean Americans are evil or that people who are aware of US "interventions" in Vietnam, Panama, Iran, Iraq, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Chile, Bolivia, Greece, the Philapines, Lebanon etc etc etc since at least the enuncation of the Monroe doctrine, are "anti-american"

The vast majority of moviegoers want brain popcorn, I'm about as politically involved on the left as you can be but if I want political commentary I don't want it from Tom Cruise. I get it from people who know what they're talking about. For example if you want to know about Iraq, there are millions of Iraqis to talk to. Many Americans could benefit from giving it a try.

Americans are funny when they start foaming at the mouth about "anti-americanism" and demand that people with an opposing opinion leave the nation of "free speech" hardy har har

Isn't this a Robert Redford movie ? The bad showing has nothing to do with Tom Cruise, but more on it's subliminal message. I think it comes down to people getting tired of hearing from Hollywood how the 'government' made a bad judgment call with the war. Hollywood needs to stop trying to force their views via movies and tv to the general public. Take a hint from the 'Bee Movie" and go back to making Terminator and Peter Pan movies AND stay out of politics.

Re: FRANCO – Franco, what do you mean? I dont think that anyone hates our military. I have met quite a few brainwashed people from the military, but I dont hate them, and I think hollywood wants to inform the public the way that Fox news wants to too. Sorry that you left the theatre for a job at a desk. you're bored?

Everyone knows Tom Cruise is gay. The real question is, Who's his latest conquest? Arrows (and Tom's dick) point to . . . . Answser at 10.

Regardless of whether it's a good film or not, or represents the liberal or conservative viewpoint, the truth is the film is a flop. Good! I hope Tom Cruise understands he's gonna learn to get as good as he gives. After his little tirade about Brooke I decided I am NEVER going to watch another one of his films again, the self-righteous prick. I hope this film and the next one takes him out of the game completely.

What an ass! Who would go to a movie with this loser in it? Anybody who is so self-centered to proclaim to the world his idiot version of "God" has lost me forever. Who cares what anyone believes? He looks and sounds like a moron.

Lions for Lambs is a very thought-provoking movie and you should go see it as soon as you can. I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise, but he nails his part in this movie, and so do the other actors. C'mon everybody, pull your thumbs out of your asses, switch off your laptops for a couple of hours and head on down to the cinema. You won't regret it.

Only a brain-washed Scientologist could promote this movie. Since Scientologists are hacks and hucksters, it follows logically that no one with a brain that functions could possibly push this movie any where but off a cliff. Tom needs to OD on Ritalin and put, at least the rest of the world, out of misery.

Man! Tommy Boy sure did himself — and the entire world — a disservice by jerking off on all that Scientology crap. Sounds like even Xenu can't save his career now. Nobody likes a Bible Beater. No matter what bible bullshit it is you're peddling. Go shove your dick up Katie's Zoloft (for survival) infested ass.

      Dear 'Mimi is a Scientologist',
It's OK, you can stay at home, you don't have to go and watch the movie. You just stay at your computer, judge people based on their beliefs, just like your government is doing, and I bet one day the world will be a better place because of it.
      You dumb fuck.

This movie is awful. Tom Cruise is just plain dull. I'm sure the $cientologists will flood the comments section with positive reviews. They actually have a PR department that flags Tom Cruise and $cientology on the internet to influence public opinion (I know this as I am an ex-member). Whatever your views on $cientology are though, the movie simply sucks.

God, I love Scientology! It allows me to be a total asshole and at the same time offend the entire planet and at the same time lose my career and at the same time have my THREE wives and children think I'm a total dick and every fan I once had turn away because I'm so fucking weird and a loser incarnate. Yeah, Scientology been berry berry good to me.
