We're Quite Surprised

We may have misjudged Rhydian!

He is our favorite on this season of the X Factor, but we thought he was a one-trick pony. A deliciously camp and over-the-top entertainer.

Well, he is that….and much more.

Click here to watch Rhydian do a beautiful version of the Josh Groban classic You Raise Me Up.

Just exquisite!

Go Rhy!

Eh? seriously? Nahhh..Josh is far superior. I guess this guy is all right but his voice is weird..doesn't really fit the song.

    19. josh_groban_junkie says – reply to this

      19

I'm sure this guy is great, but NO ONE will EVER touch the greatness and talent that is Josh Groban!FYI: YRMU actually originated in Ireland via the Celtic group Secret Garden. Mega music mogul and producer David Foster heard it and thought Josh Groban would be perfect for it,so he had Josh record it and thus, introduced it to US audiences.

    36. Vighorois says – reply to this

      36

Not very inspiring. A safe song choice. He's stll firmly planted in his safe zone - a one-man Il Divo singing operatic songs. Of course, he hit most of the notes, but an average opera singer or a nice pop singer will do that and more. Secret Garden, Josh Groban, even Brian Kennedy, each of them has put more personal touch and character than Rhydian's opera-singer-in-karaoke-bar performance.

    37. Elisabeth says – reply to this

      37

Re: josh_groban_junkie – Secret Garden is not a Celtic Group, it is founded by Rolv Loevland a Norwegian musician who wrote You raise me up (he is the front man of the group, although various musicians play along with him). Groban just did one in a number of covers of this song. Get your facts straight!

      Vighorois-Are you totally stupid???Beyond belief!
So, you, a nobody to us, say that Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Danii Minogue, Celine Dion,Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Kelly Rowland, Boyz II Men, all Rhydian's teachers at University (he is studying music and won many contests), millions of people that vote and keep fansites - they all are deaf and stupid???
FYI: the judges NEVER say what they said to him, they never give standing ovations to contestants, they are all agreeing that Rhydian Roberts is a new star with a brilliant career ahead !
I am sorry, but you are a NOBODY and will stay so…unlike our new star - Rhydian Roberts.

rhydian sang a boring dirge. he is better as a john inman impersonator.
leon jackson, on the other hand, with his velvety smooth chocolate voice
was given a poison chalice with the difficult to sing 'dancing in the moonlight'.
that he did a great version without the razzamatazz heaped on rhydian is a great credit to his this engaging personality.

Oh, will you look who's talking?Dirge is that pale wepping sod.Leon a.k.asob-story1,2,3,4 who? That Pete Doherty lookalike that dances like a puppet on strings and is flat as pancakes ???He will be good for karaoke, maybe.God , how the judges have let that warbler wannabee on us!He is nowhere near Rhydian!
All that scott muppet got is rabbit teeth, a quite washed face and loads of blind stupid chavs voting!Wrong choice, mate, put your glasses on and your hearing aid.
Rhydian is sublime. He absolutely nails it, wek after week, doesn't retort to gimmicky (really awfull) sob stories and embarassing pleas.
Rhydian just sings like you never heard before and performs better than many trained artist in the West End!
He is a heck of a presence, doesn't smoke, nor drinks, has been the champion bench-presser of Wales (so has a body to die for!0, trains every day, won allready contests and praise…he really is an astounding new artist , a superstar in the making!
The rest of the contestants should pack their bags and go home -hooome I say !
I would have more respect for them if they accepted the obvious and didn't hang in there like some famewh0res.
Rhydian should be given the crown, even if we are on week 4, there is nothing the others could do to make me believe in them. They are a petty bunch.
Rhydian is the best one, a decent and extraordinarilly modest person.

      55

Rhydian is from Wales (The brecon Beacons area, in Powys), he is a clasically trained singer who, at the age of 24, has won numerous prizes and contests but has decided to try and bring his style of music in the mainstream.
He is a crossbreed or a NEW breed pop-opera, rock-opera, jazz, soul, operatic ballad, swing …he can merge into the streams, he seems to be able to sing opera 1 week, rock another, swing and big band numbers and, now, power ballads.
All the renditions are unique, he stamped his mark on each of the song I heard.

Perez, Thank You! for posting these videos. Rhydian is just spectacular. His vocals are amazing, and I would buy his CD. The way he can command a stage reminds me a bit of Freddy Mercury of Queen, and yes the sparkly outfit did remind me of Liberace. Remember, Liberace in his day was one of the most popular and highest paid performers in Vegas. Rhydian has enormous potential, he is the real deal in talent.
