Here Come The Game Shows!

As a result of the writers' strike, the networks have fast-tracked production on a bunch of new unscripted programs, chief among those: game shows.

What can we expect to see on the air in the coming months???

- On Fox’s Moment of Truth (and based on a Colombian format), contestants answer questions about their own lives, strapping themselves to lie detectors in a quest for cash.

- NBC’s Amnesia also delves into players’ personal lives.

- On CBS’ Do You Trust Me?, strangers team up for money, wagering on how much each can depend on the other.

- On ABC’s Wanna Bet? (based on a German format), celebrities wager on stunt-performing contestants.

- Also for ABC is Duel (based on a French format), in which players gamble for prizes, using the bluff as part of their strategy.

What? The CW just doesn't care????

      The best thing everyone could do would be to stop watching TV altogether. If nobody is watching the producers will have no choice but to start talking with the writers again. They're doing it on purpose because they know people will still keep watching television no matter what they put on. So, be prepared for reality shows, repeats and apparently game shows. Producers are making tons of money off the stuff writers write. It's only fair that the writers get their fair share. Look what happens without them.

      Does it strike anyone else as odd that American non-writing producers can't even manage to create decent unscripted programming without borrowing from Europe? I'm a WGA member who's just spent the morning on the picket line. The feeling is that our audiences are going to get very tired of these rehashed concepts. How many versions of American Idol and Dancing with the Stars can the market bear before people rebel and DEMAND new Gray's and Ugly Betty episodes?

      the cw doesnt care because they just play reruns of old shows anyways so they fit in perfectly with the other channels now. They have like 4 new shows and they all suck…even top model is bombing this season.

      OMG Perez, "Wanna Bet" is based on an OLD UK show called "You Bet" from like the late 90's haha. So bad lol, it even got axed in the UK! And we Brits are into some BAD TV!

      That German format is from the early 80s so if anything, the brits copied their unsuccessul version from the Krauts.
