Jan Adams is the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon that performed a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Donda West before she died.
The shady doc has been sued for malpractice before and lost! TWICE!
In August of 2001 he was ordered to pay $250,000 in one claim.
In September of 2001, he was ordered to pay $217,337 in another malpractice judgment.
Additionally, Dr. Adams has been arrested for DUI. Twice!!!
On March 31, 2006, he was arrested for blowing a .10 blood alcohol level during two breath analyzer tests and putting him over the legal limit. The case went to trial and Adams was found guilty of driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or greater. He was sentenced to 96 hours in L.A. County jail, had to enroll in an alcohol treatment and counseling program and attend 60 AA meetings and five years probation, the papers state.
In 2003, he plead guilty to driving under the influence and was placed on three years probation, which included a three-month first offender alcohol and drug education and counseling program and restricted him from driving anywhere but to and from work for 90 days.
As if all that weren't bad enough, in April of this year, the Executive Director of the California Medical Board asked the state to consider revoking or suspending Adams’ physician and surgeon’s certificate.
On Monday, Adams claims he did nothing wrong in relation to the death of Donda West.

i had the unfortunate experience of dating jan adams for a VERY brief period. it was the worst dating experience of my life. he was incredibly narcissistic, and unbelieveably rude to the hostesses at the restaurant we went to. he started talking abusively to me during dinner, where the other diners started looking at us. i ended the meal and took him back to his hotel, ending the weekend date early. i have also been in AA for eighteen years….and all he could do is put the program down. lols…now….hes ordered to 60 AA meetings. see…it all comes back around. it was a BIZARRE experience, to say the least.

I am surprised that someone as well educated as Dr. West would pick a physican with questionable moral fiber and professional integrity to do such major surgeries. Breast reductions and tummy tucks are big surgeries. She had the financial support to go anywhere with anyone. I feel so sad for her family. What a waste of a good life. This didn't have to happen.

Dr. Adams is the host of TWO plastic surgery shows for discovery channel. He has his own line of skin products for african american women, not to mention he is the leading authority on surgery on African American women!! She was advised NOT to do the surgery, she didnt listen. Thats her own fucking fault.. and surgeons get sued all the time.. doctors get sued all the time.. that doesnt make them bad, that means shit happens. this doc is obviously an alkie…I was in rehab and my therapy group consisted mostly (9 out of 11, I'm not) health care professionals! You would be shocked to find out how many doctors are alcoholics and drug addicts! Even if he wasn't drinking that particular day, we all know how out of it a hangover can make us, it was reported that the surgery took double the time is was supposed to, like 10 hours instead of 5, so we know things went very wrong on that operating table.

Plastic surgery is buyer beware. This is an elective procedure and it is up to the patient to research their doctor fully. There are very few laws regarding plastic surgeons and their credentials. The main thing a person should look for in a plastic surgeon is board certification, which this doctor did not have. She should have done more investigating before letting this doctor touch her.

It follows a few people each 1-hour episode through their plastic surgery journey, with their doctor. HOWEVER, occasionally there is an episode with a patient of HIS, and HIM doing the surgery! After this disturbing info (the DUI and the two other malpractice suits, along Donda's death), I wonder if Discovery will pull the show, or at least get a new host? I'd hate to lose the show (b/c like I said, it's overall a good show), but they should probably get a new host - and hopefully he'll get some effin jail time this time! Since this will be his 3rd suit, you'd think the judges/jury would get a clue! R.I.P., Donda!

A lot of doctors have DUIs. They often receive suspensions or other penalties for them. They have hearings with their State Medical Boards. It's a complicated process. And people should ALWAYS check their SMB site before picking a doctor.

But, I have had both of these surgeries and with each one my doctor required me to take a complete physical including heart before the surgery could be scheduled so he would know I was physically fit to go through the surgeries safely. Just like the first doctor Donda West went to and he told her after the tests she was NOT a candidate for these operations. She did not heed his advice and sought out this crazy Adams and it cost her her life. Sad as it is, she is as much at afult as Adams. TO be so vain that you would seek out a quack when you have been told the surgeries will kill you and her fault.
