Blame Marie!

Marie Osmond's son, Michael, is in rehab.

He's only 16 years old!!!!

The devout Mormon released a statement on Wednesday, saying, "My son Michael is an amazing young man shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother I couldn't be more proud of him. The press and public has always been kind and gracious in the past and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time."

She's proud of him???

She's PROUD that her 16 year old is rehab????

Maybe that's why he's in rehab. Marie's brain is warped!

BOO HOO HOO. Poor little Morman girl. I am so sick of Donny & Marie I feel like I am reliving the 70's all over again. Their faces are everywhere. The producers and staff of dancing with the stars should be shot for allowing her to be on dancing with the stars. Thanks for bringing up the painful past of the almighty Osmonds!!!!

princess - thanks for the interesting comments. I think Marie is great. Shame her son has a serious problem, but they are dealing with it. Good luck to him & the family. Why is Marie getting a divorce ? Anyone know ? Love the Os.

      Re: religionisantiquated

I'm not going to disagree that where you lived in Utah may have had people who did act the way you stated, they may have. I do know that if I judged every religion by it's members I would never be satisifed because you won't find a perfect person. However, saying that the Fundimentalist LDS church is the same as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is like saying the the Greensboro Baptists are actual Baptists.

All religion aside (I've got some boys that would be happy to meet you to discuss this more if you would like ;) ), it is iportant and support your family in any situation. The kid has a problem, and he won't get help without assistance. Congrats to him for taking this opportunity to better himself.

what would you be more proud of? If your kid were still getting fucked up? Or facing the problem head on? I went into rehab when i was 17 years old and that was the first time my parents said they were proud of me in years…3 years later and i'm still sober, so good luck to him! I 'm proud of him to!

So you're kid's an honor student, drum major, lineback, volunteer of the year, musical prodigy? That's nothing! My boy's twice the drug addcit that Courtney Love was at this age!

Perez, you are so RIGHT ON (and most of these bloggers don't get it). This isn't about whether her 16yr old is doing the responsible thing by being in rehab, it's about 16 YEARS OF MARIE CARING ABOUT NOTHING BUT HER f*****G CAREER BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE (after her 15 minutes of fame on Donnie and Marie evaporated). AND IT HAS PAID OF — IN HER KID'S. Or to take the scriptural version (PAY ATTENTION MARIE!!! — the sins of the father shall be visited on the son — which in today's gender-equal world means the sins of the MOM.) Who CARES if you're "proud" of your son — it takes all of 30 seconds to give that kind of low-quality devotion on TV! You're pimping yourself on TV and your son knows it. This is also why your husbands left you!

Perez, I agree with about 98% of what you say but I have to disagree with you on this. What should a mother say about her child? "My son is a fucking loser piece of shit and I can't stand him." She should feel proud that he is getting help. It takes courage to get help for addiction. Celeb or not. You can't imagine what a parent feels like in this situation till u have been thru it as a parent. Let's hope u never have to.

Is it hard being perfect Perez? You are getting more and more off base with your comments. It's really hard to read this site anywhere. You just pull stuff out of your ass and half the time your wrong (and 90% of the time you've spelled the words wrong.)

      LOL
I love the people who say that growing up LDS made them crazy.
It's not a religious thing, it's most likely a "crazy parents" thing or a "guilty conscience" things… I was under way more stress, etc. when I was Catholic.
However, Marie is kind of crazy. But that's why people love her.
And the person who thinks it's hypocritical for modern LDS members to "distance" themselves from polygamy, but still respect Brigham Young… you moron, just because the polygamist part of the doctrine has moved forward, doesn't mean we don't still have reverence for the past. Most Orthodox Christians don't live their lives by Old Testament rules, but they still accept it as history and have respect.

      313

Oh FUCK YOU Perez. Shows how you never have had kids and never should. Yes, you idiot!!!! When our children recognize their problems and try to do something about it and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, we as parents are proud. Listen to the whole interview and PICK ON SOMEONE ELSE. The Osmonds have more integrity in their pinkys than you could ever hope to have. I respect her more for not speaking about it. She acknowledged it and basically told Larry King "that's all I'm saying". Look at the statistics… No one is safe.

God Perez….you have no freaking boundries.

Sixteen…. REHAB. That's fucking hi-lar-rious!!!!! I love it, he probably only had like one bloody mary. Seriously, I'm Irish and i think by American standards my whole nation would be put in to rehab. Perez you're so right, that's a dumb thing to be proud of. The fact her son got help. Finishing college is something to be proud of…. not the fact you dragged your son to rehab (cos if we're honest little Micheal was dragggggged to rehab). It's BS. Let the kids get wasted and have some stupid dumb fun. It's a rite of passage. Unless he's on some nasty drugs….. Drugs are bad m'kay.

Just about every family in the world has a member who has an addiction problem. She is proud of his courage to go into rehab and deal with it. And he probably has many great qualities that she is proud of - good for her!

      316

How are you going to dis somebody for being in rehab and her for being proud of her son? This is not heaven and nobody is perfect. Also, parents should be proud of their children regardless of what they are or what problems they have! It is called being a good and supportive mother, not having a warped brain.

Grow the hell up, Perez. She's proud of him for stepping up and getting himself help, you douche. My mom was proud of me for the same thing.

      318

      Perez-
I'm done reading you. This is horrible. This poor family has gone through so much, not to mention her son who has found the courage to seek treatment at the tender young age of 16. I'd be proud of him too. Perhaps you should see how the rest of Hollywood who has been in treatment feels about your comments. I'm sure Robin Williams, Liz Taylor et al. wouldn't take too well to your comments. Snarky can be fun, but not when it gets this low.

Re: religionisantiquated – OHHHHH my. You really must be an expert if you lived somewhere for 2 WHOLE years. Wow. And you worked with 2 people that became Mormon?? Gosh, if anyone has any mormon questions, I'm definately referring them to you. Especially because you know all the "secrets". Your comment is a perfect display of how deep the intolerance/ignorance runs in you. You can't handle it that someone might want to make choices different than yours that they believe to be the right ones.

Sounds like you live in your own "bubble".

I as a mother understand what Marie Osmond is saying, no matter how anyone else feels, moms are proud of their children even when they make mistakes, and have the courage to admit their mistakes and take action to change things. God bless Marie Osmond and her family.

Better to go in at 16 than 26 or 36 or 56! The younger a person is dealing with this the better their chances are for getting and STAYING clean!!
Yea to her for putting him in rehab.

      323

I agree with another reader Perez. He's dealing with his drug addiction. Now it's your turn to deal with your food addiction. Maybe if you had dealt with it at 16 you'd be thin by now.

Marie's working hard for the vote and you people are too gullable to see that. On Access Hollywood thursday it was reported that Larry and Marie discussed what he could ask her and she told him NOTHING was off limits INCLUDING the information about her son going to rehab. And she had the nerve to act suprised and ask him how he found out that information. By the way Larry's wife and Mairie are best friends and she's the one that told them. You can't believe everything you see on tv, she was acting ,for sympathy votes. She wants to win bad but I hope the best talent win in the end.

It just goes to show that despite coming from a good Mormon family, there are no "guarantees" that the kids will turn out alright.Family values contributes to the child's "being" but friends and other outside influences also have a strong pull, esp. in a negative way.Take my mother's cousins: large Catholic family….many kids….of the brothers one was a priest, one a policeman…but another a RAPIST!!(yet they were all raised the same way and with the same values!) If they run with a bad crowd it can have a stronger "sway" over them. You can't blame the Mormons, or the large families…it happens, and if it can happen to the upstanding wholesome Osmonds it can happen to *anyone*!!

You're such a dork Perez. What should Marie say? That her SON is a piece of s*%$ because he decided to make bad decisions? Listen lametard, we are humans and we make stupid mistakes sometimes! Don't be so hard on people! Parents love their children regardless! She really wants him to overcome this issue and the best thing to handle it, is with compassion. Just wait till you have kids mister gay pants. hahahahahahahahahahaha.
