Arrest Warrant Issued For Hayden Panettiere!

She's a wanted woman!

"I learned that they have an arrest warrant out for me in Japan," Hayden Panettiere told E! News Wednesday. "We just found out."

The Heroes star bravely paddled out to the middle of the ocean with some activist friends to try and prevent local fishermen from slaughtering a group of dolphins.

She is being charged with obstruction of commerce.

To avoid being arrested for trespassing by the Japanese national police, Panettiere said she fled to another city and left the country immediately after the incident.

But, Hayden has no regrets. "I'd do it again," she said of the protest. "Very possibly, might do it again."

Panettiere doubts she will face any real jail time, despite the arrest warrant in Japan. "I guess they could come here and get us, but probably not," she said.

Most of all, though, Hayden is inspired by the attention her mission was able to get. "I was very excited that people were interested in what we did," she said. "In [Hollywood], you tend to only get publicity for not wearing underwear or going to rehab."

China and Japan are causing the extinction of the black rhino and the elephant. America made it ILLEGAL to import endangered animals decades ago. China and Japan have not. Nordic countries are driving whales to extinction because they haven't outlawed whale hunting like American did decades ago. Canada is clubbing baby seals on a regular basis. It's illegal to sell or import baby seal fur in the USA. We don't wear tortured animals. All you self righteous Foreigners need to STFU with the America bashing and clean up your own backyard ya hypocrites.

it's in the hindi religion not to eat cows (but americans do), and muslims don't eat pigs (americans do). the japanese can eat dolphins if they want. just because the US of A doesn't, doesn't mean it's wrong. the french eat snails! so what if people have different eating habits?

#40 and I'm guessing #46…um, what innocent, American babies are being killed every day? Seriously, it depresses me that there are people as ignorant as you. Just because you think it would really suck if a bunch of innocent American babies were being killed every day does not mean that there are actually babies being killed on a daily basis, or that the killing of a baby is not an illegal act that the police investigate. No one condones killing babies, okay?

Also, there are not many children who are homeless in general. There are certainly children living below the poverty line that might not be getting their basic needs met, this is a worthy cause of course, but why should Hayden have to make that her cause? She likes dolphins, let her save dolphins, just because she is going one good thing does not mean she should be criticized for not doing EVERY good thing.

There is a delay in the postings sometimes and other times when your post does show up right away and you refresh it doesn`t show up but that doesn`t mean it`s been deleted, it`ll show up again in like 20 seconds to a minute. Do you honestly think that Perez has the time, patience, or even CARES what everys single person on this board has to say??If he did all those posts bashing his site and advertising others would and slandering the gays would be gone.

You are the typical arrogant, one-sided, close-minded person. If you think that the human race is the most important, than YOU go and save the babies instead of sitting on the computer and reading Perez. The human race is not the only important thing on this planet and its definately not the MOST important. Things like the environment, now THAT is important becuase if there is no Earth there are no humans. Animals are living breathing creatures too and they deserve the same respect as any other human. AND they also help the environment, which like I said before, is #1.

Re: Say no to Made in China

It's not any more moral to eat cows, pigs or chickens, granted they are not as smart. People eat them because they are easy and profitable to breed and raise but eating any animal is cruel, gross and to an extent unsanitary BUT you don't see vegetarians waging HATE wars on carnivores! According to your logic, Americans are also digusting since some cultures don't eat beef or pork because they view the animals as either sacred or dirty. I could never eat a dog or a cat but regional culture aside, I recognize the oxymoronic flaw in that thinking. You, on the other hand, are an astronomically hypocritical bigot for actually HATING others for something when you're really no better, a savage calling another a savage. Do you think it is more "kind" when a cow is being killed and slaughtered? You're obviously irrational though, so you'll never get it.
FYI, eating dogs is uncommon and very expensive and eating cats is extremely, extremely rare in most Asian countries, probably because they don't make for profitable commodities in the livestock market. Asia is also a region heavily influenced by Buddhism, so there is a large number of strict followers who are vegetarians.

Japan is no longer a country that is handcuffed to an imperialist emperor. Japan is now a democratic sovereign, where the people have the right to promote animal rights as courageously as Hayden. In her own little way she has paved the way for Japan to enact laws to prevent fisherman from slaughtering species that are becoming endangered throughout the world. Only they can decide if the benefits of whale and dolphin meat is necessary for their survival. Obviously, there are companies in Japan that are making millions if not billions on the meat of whales and dolphins. Can these companies be held accountable for these senseless deaths? Like Enron in the US, where that company was held accountable for their misdeeds. Can these Japanese companies that are packaging and selling whale and dolphin meat to their citizens and throughout the world at large to unsuspecting customers be held accountable. People who may believe they are eating tuna fish, rather than dolphin meat and people who buy catfood made out of dolphin and whale meat. Can these companies that are in the US, Europe, Australia, China, etc. who buy this dolphin and whale meat from the Japanese to process as fabricated tuna fish and integrated into catfood, be held accountable for this slaughter?

You may be right about Japan being a "peaceful, global citizen" by today's standards, but I wouldn't offer too much credit to a country that regards war criminals as national heroes! Japan refuses to offer an apology for the Nanjing "incident" and the Japanese government won't acknowledge that comfort women were victims of sexual slavery for the sheer purpose of satisfying horny Japanese soldiers. My understanding is that there have been official apologies and monetary compensation directed to Asian countries ravaged by Japan during WWII. Whether the apologies and monetary compensation have been sufficient is a complex debate.

These war crimes, while devatstatingly atrocious, were committed appx. a half a century ago. It was a different era in the world under a different Japanese government. People should learn from history but to cling onto old grudges is detrimental to the evolution of humanity.

Absolutely correct. The fact that they confronted the fishermans, whom were merely doing their jobs was disrespectful and exploitative of the fishermans. If she was serious about this, she should be spending the effort to organize intelligent and effective campaigns against the companies that are making money off this, the real exploiters of whales/dolphins. This approach displayed their lack of thought or lazziness and makes it look like a quick and easy PR move.

    64. Viper says – reply to this

      164

      re. china*doll
The business about Japan providing financial compensation is a very murky issue because Japan is intensely divided on its level of responsibility over WWII atrocities. As a comparison, in Germany, it is illegal for anyone to deny the holocaust or to speak in favour of the Third Reich. In Japan, on the other hand, nationalist right-wing politicians either state a) that the Japanese never committed ANY crimes against humanity. b) that the number of rape, torture and murder victims has been blown out of proportion by the entire rest of Asia (hmmm). Or c) that the incidents happened a long time ago and that the countries once under Japanese colonial rule need to get over it.

Here's a question: how do you suppose Japan would react if the USA said "we know that countless civilians were killed when the A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but it happened decades ago, get over it!" Understandably, the Japanese would be furious, so why should the Chinese, the Koreans, and the Indonesians feel any different?

    65. Viper says – reply to this

      165

      re. china*doll
I don't want to sound as though I'm hating on all the Japanese. There are many who wish that their government would offer a detailed and PUBLIC apology, but unfortunately, these more open-minded individuals are not the ones who dominate the country, and it is the ultra-nationalist politicians who decide what is done (or not done) and, more importantly, what is taught in schools.

I am majoring in Asian Studies, and there are many Japanese exchange students at my school. When they learn about WWII from the perspective of colonized countries in Asia, they are mortified. I feel bad for them because they aren't educated about their country's role in this destructive period. This type of censorship should not exist in a country that is progressive in so many other ways, and Japanese students shouldn't have to be embarrassed because their government is too stubborn or proud to go public and say "we were so terribly wrong, let's hope the world can learn from our misdeeds".

Re: china*doll – I have to disagree wholeheartedly with you with regard to hayden's protest. It was magnificent!! She showed more courage than any living politician in america. Even old Abe himself would blush in honor. As Abe once rallied his thoughts to rich new yorkers, attempting to obliterate slavery and to achieve justice in america, Hayden has rallied her efforts in bold and courageous acts. Lincoln was once laughed at for his attempts to show the truth. Hayden is simply bringing truth to a world of greed and merciless killings. As old Abe fought for injustices, Hayden is doing the same.

      ….

Yes, Japanese companies are the ones at fault. They kill whales and dolphins for delicacies and pet food. Whale meat was once a staple food for the Japanese right after WWII, and, Japan needed to hunt whales for its survival. However, today, they can only hunt for whales for scientific purposes, but yet they still kill them for uses that are now unnecessary to their modern day culture. Dolphin meat, as well, is used for pet food, and excess fish meat sold to American, European, Asian companies as a psuedo tuna fish substitute.
