William Shatner has not been asked to make a cameo in the new J.J. Abrams-directed version of Star Trek, and he's mad!
The film will tell the story of a young Kirk and Spock, and Leonard Nimoy will reprise his role as the pointy-eared Spock in the film. Several other original cast members will also have small parts in the film. But not Shatner.
"How could you not put one of the founding figures into a movie that was being resurrected? That doesn’t make good business sense to me!," the actor tells TV's Extra. "I’ve become even more popular than I was playing Captain Kirk. I’m good box office and I get publicity…. But, they are going in a different direction and it’ll be a wonderful film.”

I don't see any 'tude in his statements. He speaks the truth. He feels he should be in it - but they made the decision not to include him, so be it.
its like doing a movie of Friends and not asking jennifer aniston to be in it. she was a major character on that show and pretty much the only one still mentioned in the media now.

A dapper dude in the original and he ballooned up to a VERY healthy size, much larger than Kirk is now, and he still had some prime camera time in the movies. Plus he wasn't even the main protagonist on the show…something fishy going on here!

I'm thrilled most of you are not trashing him. He is, and always will be, Captain Kirk. Without him, there would have been no Star Trek franchise. I won't be going to see this movie, and I have seen all of them.

William Shatner is a national treasure and an iconoclast. Have you ever heard is album "Has Been?" It's perfect. I don't like Star Trek, I never have. But he's a genius. Period. Go buy "Has Been" right now. It's one of the best albums of the past 10 years.

MAJOR Trek fan here. I'm torn. I really think this movie will suck donkey balls and I want it to because I think it's a stupid concept. But if it does, Paramount might give up on the Star Trek franchise. My life would then be over.

If you can't respect the rules, you "Box Office" and "Publicity" doesn't matter. Next time, listen to your boss, and keep your lips closed. There are hundreds of millions of dollars behind it.

If the new film is about the beginning - when Kirk & gang first met and got on the Enterprise - why can't Kirk's "grandfather" see him off?
