It is so easy to want Hogan's blood. However, I have a friend who was in an accident in a renault 5 GT Turbo (remember them - v. fast boy racing car back in 80s / 90s). He collided with another car coming over a bridge on the way home from a nightclub and one of his passengers in the back (who wasn't wearing a seat belt) was flung from the car through the sunroof. The passenger didn't survive the accident and the driver has spent the rest of his life paying for the accident. He has never had a family nor settled down properly, he turned to drugs and constantly blamed himself for the accident. He was prosecuted for death by reckless driving and to this day (nearly 20 years later) is still remorseful of what happened. I don't know if Nick will ever face these challenges, however, what happened was an accident and something he'll face the consequences for the rest of his life. Whilst my heart goes out to John's family we should all remind ourselves that accidents happen to the best of us. However, I am positive if it was one of my children I would be the first to demand Hogan's blood. A very, very sad situation.

Listening to those 911 tapes, how do we KNOW John WASN'T wearing a seatbelt? Cause the Hogans SAID so??? Everyone said they believed there was only ONE person in the car! One was overheard saying, "…….he WAS over there! Now he's over there!" HOW do we know that Hogan didn't UNDO John's seatbelt, then jump out????? How do we KNOW that Hogan was even wearing his? Cause HE said so????? Regardless, the DRIVER is responsible!!!!!
I won't even move my vehicle until everyone inside it is buckled up. As the driver, it was his responsibility to make sure his passengers were secure. If they refuse, then refuse to drive them. "Nuff said.

Regardless of whether it was an accident or not, it was his car and his responsibility to make sure that his passenger was wearing a seatbelt, especially if he was going to race. He knew damn well what he was doing and the risk he was putting both their lives in the second he pressed his foot down on the pedal and started speeding. I was incredibly offended when the Hogans made it seem like it was John's fault because he wasn't wearing his seat belt. While he was an adult and he should have been wearing a seat belt, it was Nick's responsibility to make sure everyone was strapped in. And while accidents do happen, it is irresponsible to speed like that on a public street where there could have been other cars and pedestrians who could have possibly gotten injured as well. There is no excuse for what happened and he should be punished accordingly. If he wants to speed rent a fucking speedway for the night and speed there. He has both the money and the fame to be able to do something like that. There is absolutely NO excuse for what happened. And while he gets to live with this burden on his shoulders for the rest of his life, his friend is brain dead and will never get a chance at a life again.

It is Nick's fault for not making sure everyone was strapped in. It is Nick's fault for racing on a street where there could have been other people in the way. He is the one that chose to race, he was the one in control. Like I said in my other post, yes John is an adult and could have made the choice to put the seat belt on, but ultimately it was Nick Hogan's car and he was the one in control of what was happening.

What if it was a real emergency, lets take for instance a large fire or just the occasional hurricane. What would take place then? I tell you what a complete shutdown of their phone system at least. I mean that is freaking rediculous for that phone to ring more than 3 times. What if someone was being attacked or a convenience store was robbed? Well I guess nobody would be able to call the Clearwater Police thats for sure. And it is very interesting to me how every time someone on the recording attempts to say anything more than "They were racing" the recording magically is cut off or the cell phone breaks up or the recording reaches the end. Kind of reminds me of the extremely long time for Nick to be charged or for anything at all to be done by the Clearwater Police about this. I don't know about what you are saying in regards to the Hulk's influence in Clearwater, but I know that even I've had problems getting in touch with emergency operators. Sometimes they are fast like they are supposed to be, but there are times when they're not. Perhaps it was a busy night. Who knows? It is scary to think though that if one was in a life threatening situation they might not be able to get in contact with an emergency operator right away.
