Cheney's Heart Beats Irregularly

Vice President Dick Cheney was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat on Monday.

The discovery was made during an examination for a lingering cough.

Cheney's spokesperson says:

"The vice president visited with his doctors this morning for evaluation of a lingering cough from a cold.

During examination he was incidentally found to have an irregular heartbeat, which on further testing was determined to be atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart.

Later this afternoon, the vice president will visit George Washington University Hospital for further evaluation and, if indicated, cardioversion, delivery of an electric impulse to the heart, which is a standard treatment for atrial fibrillation."

They won't necessarily have to shock him. They can just put him on a pulse regulator such as Diltiazem and then keep him on a blood thinner (Coumadin) to prevent clotting/strokes. My mom has A-Fib and that's what they did for her and she's fine.

My husband has atrial fibrillation and that led to a stroke … so cardioversion is out because it can lead to another stroke.

My mother taught me, if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all, so i won't say a word about cardioversion except I hope all goes well for that rich man and he never has to worry about his wife having to work to keep their home paid for or their utilities paid, their children or grandchildren being fed, his family members fighting for oil, or anyone actually using their first amendment rights in GWB's America.
