Why?????
Naomi Watts has also been cast in the film, a "prequel" of sorts.
The movie, being directed by Ron Howard, should be released in 2009.

Idiot Perez! Don't you know that Angels and Demons (by Dan Brown) is the prequel to Da Vinci code? It even came out before the Da Vinci code. Honey, do a little bit of research next time. This "prequel" didn't come from thin air and was not written by some Hollywood writer. It would be based on a best selling novel. You can be such a pompous idiot.

It's based on a novel by Dan Brown (writer of the Da Vinci Code) - Angels and Demons. It's not a "prequel of sorts" - it is a prequel! The events take place before the events of The DaVinci Code.

I don't know why they did the Da Vinci Code in the first place. Angels and Demons was a much better boook then the Da Vinci Code. I read angels and Demons we;; before the Da Vinci Code hype, and when I read that one, I was like "Huh? What the hell? How come this one got better hype?". And the movie? Even more boring then the book. *Yawn*. I hope with "Angels and Demons" being a better book, maybe the movie will too.

Ugh, yeah, I heard that too and I am not happy. I wasn't happy with the casting in the first place…it should have been Russell Crowe or Hugh Jackman, someone far sexier and better image of Richard Langdon. I loved the book, but the movie was mediocre. It made alot of money, but the movie was lame.

Please do just a little research when discussing something a like this that's a little more cerebral than your usual fare. The "prequel" you refer to, Angels & Demons, is based on a amazing book which was written prior to the DaVinci Code. Let's hope it translates slightly better on film than his last. You should read a few books in lieu of munching out on doughnuts.

And follow the book better. but you know that Hollywood won't. It is normally better not to read the book-you get sooo disapointed with what they do in 2 hours because they have to put the actor they paid 20 mil in as many scenes with the best lines. I think the authors of the books should do the screenplay.

It's not exactly a prequel if the book was written and released years before the Code. Da Vinci Code is the sequel.

The problem with The DaVinci Code was that they miscast the role of Dr. Robert Langdon. Everyone I know who has read the book and seen the movie agrees. I personally think that Harrison Ford would have been a better Langdon, although he's a little old for the role. It's a shame Ron Howard ruined this great story. I think Tom Hanks is a wonderful actor but he's not for every role.

i know the da vinci code did not do that well at the box-office so to do another movie, prequel or not, is questionable, but who knows? maybe it will be a huge hit, but i doubt it
Angels & Demons was the better book. And yeah, it came out before DaVinci Code, but nobody really paid attention to Dan Brown until the controversy over the DaVinci Code came out. I've read all of his books - they're pretty good.

This has been in the works since before the started pre-production on The DaVinci Code. They should have made this one first…it's a MUCH better book. It's called Angels and Demons and I recommed EVERYONE read it. Seriously, it's great. I'm not sure how it will come across on screen, but the book is spectacular.

Naomi Watts? Oh man, don't get me wrong I love the woman and she is a great actress but I was kinda wishing for someone else to play the part of Vittoria. I read that Gisele Bundchen was actually "in talks" for Vittoria, but that was a while ago. I was kinda hoping for that to be true. I think Gisele is a "good" actress and that maybe in this film could of expanded her acting ability a little better. I actually liked her in Taxi and thought she was pretty good but the plot and storyline of that movie itself just sucked. I guess its fully confirmed now that Naomi is playing her. *Sigh*…
