The body of Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert was found dead on the group's tour bus Saturday, hours before a scheduled concert in Washington, D.C.

The cause of death has yet to be determined.

The band posted the following message on their website:

"Today is probably the worst day ever. Its with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We've spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don't contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don't want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know.

Sincerely,

Hawthorne Heights

Eron, JT, Micah and Matt"

It sounds like he may have had complications from asthma. I have never heard of this guy nor have I heard of his band, but I'm very sorry this happened and I can't believe some of the posts on this sight. A young person has died regardless if you knew him or not, I can't believe the insensitivity this sight has shown. He was someones son, someones cousin, someones brother, uncle, friend. Just because you have no idea who he is doesn't mean his life and death do not matter. I'm seriously so fearful for the future of this world. Some of you make me ill. I hope something like this never happens to you…then again.. you probably wouldn't care anyway.

This kid's death is very sad. Anytime someone this young dies is very sad.

On the other hand, it was probably GG Allin's ghost that did it.

r.i.p. casey……him, his family, and the rest of the band are in my prayers.

but honestly…how do you come on here and make degrading comments about him? that's what makes this even sadder. he was a young, good person and didn't deserve to die. how is it that a person like him dies, but people who are going to post derogatory things about him get to live? where's the justice in that? you don't have to know or like the band or know who he is, but he still deserves respect.

    18. anonymous says – reply to this

      118

how about no one on here KNEW him. im from dayton where these guys are from. so if you have any respect for the dead stop making awful comments like "no one cares bc i dont know who they are anyway". there are people out there that care and ar grieving right now. you never know when a good friend of someone who died gets on here and reads these awful comments being made. if you didnt know who this was, dont post a comment saying, "who cares!". no one cares that you had no idea who this was and no on cares about you. keep hurtful comments to yourself unless you are going to pay your respects. and i know 100% that it was not from drugs because i was told by a family member. quit starting rumors and quit giving someone a bad name just for gossip or just because you have no idea who that band was. get educated and listen to more music.

hawthorne heights is a huge band in many states…not just CA. I have lived in CT my whole life (22 years) and have seen them twice. I don't know anyone who doesn't know them. I can't believe the disgusting comments some people are leaving on here even if you don't know the band. Imagine if you died and your parents, family, and friends were reading nasty comments about you. That is sick. Rip Casey.

have some fucking respect! i hope when you die people say 'oh it was probably just drugs' or 'who cares?' or my favorite: 'they were a joke and ugly as hell'. all of you who said those things deserve it. you should've actually read what the entry said: "We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don’t contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear." OUT OF RESPECT. and if you read it, and still said these hurtful things, i hope you die without saying goodbye to your parents, spouses, kids, siblings, or friends. all of you with no hearts or respect can go to hell. Casey was a super nice, fun guy with a heart of gold, and doesn't deserve all of this negativity. he deserves to be remembered with dignity and respect.

Your lives must be total shit for you to be so disrespectful to someone who just died. He was young, he was in a band, but that doesn't mean he was a drug addict. Not everyone can fit into a little box of stereotype. Grow up and show respect to his family, friends, and fans. They're the ones who need some positivity in their lives right now.

all the who cares and who are they are obviously people past their prime. I love it when middle age people are even more rude than others, and if they aren't middle age, they just do not like to experience a wide variety of music. They were actually a very popular band and those of you that did not hear Ohio is for lovers were living in a hole(I'm not even a huge fan), it was played a lot. They will not all of the sudden get popular because they were already popular, and they are nationally known, I have no clue where you are getting LA from, you moron. If you were going to insult them at least pick a place where that kind of music is huge. And probably drugs? many bands like them now a days are straight egde, they do NOT do drugs! Sorry 30+ yr olds not everyone does drugs like the fucking rolling stones and other 70's- 90's bands, some actually want to make music. Hopefully karma takes place and all these people will hear a "who cares" when someone they love dies.

so sad, always the good talented people that die young. I feel for his family and friends, good people are hard to find these days

My heart goes out to the rest of the boys, who only two years ago (almost exactly) were on tour with Bayside when their drummer, Beatz, was killed in a car crash on tour. Bands are brothers; I know how you feel.

I actually wasn't really into Hawthorne Height's music, I thought they were like all the other tight pants, eyeliner wearing trendy kids.
But to imagine being a friend or family member who knew him and to find that his dead body had been found like that would be so tragic and scary.

People need to grow up and develop some god damn morals.

I do feel for his family and friends and hope they can find some comfort, especially with it being the holiday season. I can only imagine how it would feel to lose a loved one, esp this time of year.

      Perez- thanks for posting this.

I met Casey and the band a couple of times and they were some of the nicest guys I have ever met. Casey's smile and Mario pajama pants will always stick out in my mind. The band is one that you can tell does what they do because they are so passionate about it, and although it's hard to go on without Casey, I hope they don't stop doing what they love, and go on in his memory. (even if some people don't like their music or have "never heard of them"…no one's forcing anyone to listen to anything here.)

Have some respect people. Casey's friends and family have enough to deal with without the crap that you're giving them. It's sad that you have nothing better to do with your time than try to tarnish the memory of a great person.

      R.I.P. Case!
Ever since this man died, I haven't been able to sleep.
He was a big insperation to me. He was one of the reasons why I play guitar today. To everyone who says he died from drugs, don't say that. Casey was a fun, loving, CLEAN and SOBER guy. He was vegan and he would never ever do drugs, so please don't disrespect him. Just because you've never heard of the band, or him doesn't mean you should treat him like nothing. This man was nothing short of amazing and we don't need people hating and leaving rude comments. If one of your favourite celebs died, I'm sure you'd say the same things I am. Casey died of natural causes and he was only 26. It's really hard on us fans, his friends, and his family and wife, so please, be respectful.
