Mel B. received the best score out of all the contestants on Monday night's Dancing With the Stars.

The Spice Girl - and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy - got a 55 out of a possible 60 points for their cha cha and freestyle dances.

Coming in close second was race-car driver Helio Castroneves and his partner Julianne Hough with 54 points.

And, the sympathy vote, Marie Osmond and her partner, Jonathan Roberts, earned 46 points for their two dances.

Re: jords – I would say that helio and mel are head to head in this race as far as technical dancing goes, his jive was amazing, but ppl with short term memory or whatever take what the judges say and form similiar opinions, with len saying his feet were late at the beginning of his jive..watch it again, they were fine!..thats because he's working with the producers who are trying to get mel or marie to win. trust me my brother in law works on set and, ppl can vote all they want, but at the end of the day it is a television show and whoever the producer wants to win will win..even though helio is clearly more deserving!

The overall quality at this year's final is horrible. Last year was amazing. That said, what the HELL is Marie doing there? She's awful!! REally, she's an embarrassment. Between Mel and Helio, I have to go with Mel. I see what some are saying about how hard it is for Helio to do the lifts, etc, but this is a dance show and Mel's the better dancer.
