Nicole Kidman's adopted children, the ones she's rarely seen with, don't really like mom all that much.
"My kids don't call me mommy, they don't even call me mom. They call me Nicole, which I hate and tell them off for it," she recently told the UK's GMTV.
Kidman also admits to not spending much time with her kids.
"When children are teenagers, they have a say in where they want to be. Los Angeles is a big draw, and I'm looking to get a place there so we can share more," she says.

This has nothing to do with Tom's brainwashing on the kids. The point is, if Nicole doesn't even spend time with these kids, why adopt them in the first place? Okay, I buy that Tom has done SOMETHING to them, but Nicole holds responsibility and is clearly at fault here.
If my mom was a celebrity I would call her by her name too, so everyone would know that I was the daughter of somebody famous *chuckles*.
can totally believe this - she would much rather spend time with her baby niece than her kids…ffs its always showing pics of her and that baby in the mags here.
The interviewer made some comment, quoting her kids as calling her "mommy", actually "mummy" since he was British and that's we say. She laughingly replied that they don't call her "mommy". He then asked what they did call her. She said "mom….or Nicole…". The latter part being a joke. Obviously her initial comment about how they don't call her mommy was because they're too old to be seriously calling her mommy. Sigh. Perez. I just happened to catch this interview this morning and now I'm doubting all the alleged quotes from American sources that I've read on this site.

It is a symptom of parental alienation syndrome.(PAS) Happened to someone I know and their kids. Subtle alienation, "empowering" the kid by endorsing the use of first name instead of earned "mom" title. In the end he'll just screw up his kids. they eventually figure this crap out.

No one knows WHAT relationship either one of the Kidman-Cruise parents have with their children. You all blast her for NOT being pictured with her kids, and then Bitch about her trotting them out for photo ops. Does anyone remember the big mess with Tom being chased with the children in the car when the paps tried to get pics of the kids??? They have always shielded their kids from the press… and when they both got married this past year, both had tons of pics taken on the WAY to the Church, no one released any pics of the kids, so you can't blame either parent for showing them off. Then to you judgemental fucks who call Keith Urban a "loser-addict", he is a top selling-successful and financially stable artist. He also spent some time in treatment to improve his life, he is not sitting in some gutter swilling MD 20-20. It appears to me that both parents love these kids, and I have never seen Nichole behave in a way that draws doubt to her committment to her children. Neither has Tom…. but I have seen him be more wierd than a bowl full of hair. He is a little controlling, and he gives me the creeps… with all the "over the top" crap when he and "Kate" were dating. His committment to Scientology is a little over zealous… and you could make a case for that being unhealthy for the kids. Once again Mario, you have Lied in your Picture title and misquoted to suit yourself. You are a waste of human protoplasm.
meh. it's sad, that's what it is. i completely agree with the comment before me…we know nothing about the true nature of the family's relationship. whether it's warm, cold, loving, hateful…etc etc. And maybe they are just being teenagers…i went through a phase where i began to call my parents by their first names. They hated it, but I did it…who know - i was a middle schooler, no one knows what goes through THEIR heads….
Will people stop referring to her children as her "adopted" children. I was adopted when I was a baby and my parents are my parents and I am their child, not their adopted daughter. What's the big hang up with people on this issue. A parent is the one who raises you, and like someone said before, Katie is more of a mother than Nicole. She lives in Australia for goodness sake. Could she live any further away? It isn't surprising they chose to live with their dad. It has never seemed like she was very interested in her children, at least from what the public has seen or heard. I can't imagine under any circumstances, leaving my daughter to go live in another country with my new husband. I guess she left the old children behind to start another family. Bet those kids will feel secure growing up. Maybe, if she has more kids she can leave them and move to Europe next.
The children were lucky enough to be adopted and by very wealthy famous people to boot. Many children are not adopted and live their childhood in foster care or homes. This is a very sad story indeed but divorce seems to mess up childrens lives no matter adopted or not.
In her defense..my teenagers did that to me once and I slap them up side the head in front of thier friends….
I kindly reminded them that I was clearly mom to them and its a priviledge they better enjoy. Now even their friends jokingly call me "Mom" everytime they see me.

I can't think of one person I know who doesn't call their mom "Mom". I do however know one girl who calls her dad by his first name, and she has expressly stated that it's because she absolutely dispises him.

I am surprised that not one of you has brought up the contract that Nicole signed when she entered into her Faustian relationship with Scary Lil' Tom Cruise.
Perhaps because I am a New Yorker, and had a slew of industry contacts at the time, but it was well understood 17+ years go that NK was no more than a servant to his High Holy Craziness.. And her confidentiality contract was a similar inch-thick doc that all their employees sign. Remember she was a naive 21 yr old.

When she divorced she did not take her children with her. She never fought for them. Tom is and was the primary care parent. Thank God for Katie. They talk about Britney but this woman abandoned them . Now and then they "visit". So unusual for a mom not asking for custody. Tom makes movies also so that is no excuse. I am so glad this has been exposed and discussed.
Who knows really, but she does come off that way…i mean i see pics of those kids with Tom and he mentions them here and there- i dont hear or see nicole with her kids much!?…

Back in the day celebrities cherished their children ( the 50' 60's 70's). It seems as though today children are ornaments and status symbols. They are raised by numerous nannies, sent to boarding school, or left to their own devices. We see numerous pictures of Katie, Tom and Suri. Where are Conner and Isabelle? They are at the age where they need the most supervision and need their parents in their lives. I commend Gavin and Gwen. They always have their son with them without nannies and hangers on. I think they are doing what parents are supposed to do. Nicole needs to chill for a few years and get to know her kids. I must admit I am not a fan of hers. Not every female has the maternal instinct and I think she is one of them. I can't wait to read the new generation's series of "Mommy and Daddy Dearest" books.
