The Bachelorette (That Used To Be A Bachelor)
This is a first on U.S. television!
MTV's GLBT channel, Logo, will be airing a reality dating show starring a transgender woman as the lead!
Transamerican Love Story is centered on transgender activist and actress Calpernia Addams.
The show follows Calpernia as she whittles down a group of eight bachelors, living together in a Los Angeles-area home, with the help of her best friend and fellow transgender activist Andrea James.
Unlike some shock TV in Europe, Calpernia is openly transgender to all the show’s suitors from the start of the series.
The hour-long show is hosted by openly gay comedian and actor Alec Mapa (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives) and will premiere in February.
Transamerican Love Story is executive produced by Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey and Tom Campbell of World of Wonder Productions, who oversee our favorite show on television!
Ashley Tisdale performed on NBC's Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting special Wednesday night and gave Ashlee Simpson a run for her money!

it is important to note that the film "soldier's girl" is the story of calpernia's relationship with a man who ended up beging murdered because of it. he was in the military and was harrassed and finally murdered by a fellow soldier. calpernia also served time in the military.
The movie about her and Barry Winchell (SOLDIER'S GIRL) is a beautiful, heartbreaking movie. Jane Fonda's son plays Barry and Lee Pace ("Puching Daisies") plays Calpernia.

First of all, this is great. I hate dating reality shows, but at least this one shows some openness. I just hope it doesn't turn into a trainwreck of ridiculousness like so many dating shows do.

She was in JLo's movie Monster in Law. She was in the scene where JLo & her man were goin to the outside dinner thing at Jane Fonda's house. JLo & her man pull up in the driveway, there are people socializing outside. If you look carefully for a woman in a long red dress, you will see her. Don't blink or you will miss her! I had to re-play my dvd several times b4 I could pause just right to see her. Again, don't blink!

This will actually be the second time in U.S. tv. Fox Reality Channel is airing a show called "There is Something About Miriam" which is an awesome show about men dating a transgendered woman in a Bachelor type show however they don't know she is a he.

Check out the movie "Soldier's Girl" and read how the love of her life was a soldier who was beaten to death when his comrades found out he fell in love with her before he found out she was a man! You can rent it and watch it with her narrating it…it is very very VERY sad.
Calpernia is the girl that a movie about the (true stroy) murder of a soldier was about. I wish I could remember the name. She was pre-surgery, but living as a woman. The soldier was living in a dorm-type barracks when he met her and fell in love with her (and knew her situation). He was beaten to death by his roommate with a baseball bat after they had fought earlier in the day. The good guy won the initial fight and the other soldiers teased the loser about getting beat up by a fag (they knew about Cal), so later that night, this other GI coerced/bribed/teased the roommate into "teaching him a lesson" and gave the roommie the bat. That same night, Cal had won a beauty contest for TG/TS girls. Very sad story, but good movie. I am glad that she is (hopefully) having a happier life now.

There is already a show exactly the same as this that is based in Australia called "There's Something About Miriam" and it's the freaken most hilarious show i've ever watched! Miriam is a mexican model who - below the waste - is ALL man. She is whitteling down a group of men from england and australia who do NOT know she's a transgender. it's incredible and they hint at it throughout the epsiodes.

This is amazing. Being transgendered myself….this is a huge step in the right direction. "something about Miriam" was a terrible idea because she was not honest from the start which is just wrong which led to Miriam being attacked on the street after the show was over. This is going to hold us up in a much better light. We all don't go around trying to fool people and lie.
