unfortunately there is only so much conditioning that can happen for a voice once it has been badly damaged. she'll improve, but she'll never have the voice she once did.

Not a very good portrait of her comeback. They should have chosen a song where you can hear her sing a little bit. This doesn't show much of anything. She rattles off a couple of lines as the lead singer then it's almost like she's lipsyncing the back-up singers' vocals for the last 5 seconds. Not bad, she still sounds like Whitney, but can she SANG IT?!?
The backing vocals were the other women who orignally sang the song….Kelly Price and Faith Evans….With Whitney singing her verses….the song was a trio…..Whitney is not Mariah Carey….even when she is not tip top she will give it a go live instead of lip syncing…..

Well, that confirmed it. The voice is gone. Much better than the olympic performance a while ago, but still no where near what she used to be. She is basically doing what she has done for the last 10 years….talk her way through it. It no, the voice will not get astronomically better over time. If that was the case, everyones voice would be immaculate after a little R and R. She hasn't used her voice in nearly two years and touring for more than five. Her voice should be in great shape if it wasn't something other than the drugs that affected it. Get your head out of the sand and back into reality. Her comeback will consist mainly of her showmanship and the fact that people will be happy enough to see her come through this alive. If it comes to being on her voice, then she's done. She can still mumbled some notes and sing, but nothing like she used to do. It's so sad. She completely destroyed herself.
the funny thing is she still sounds better than a lot of chicks out today. i love whitney and this gives me hope that she will be just fine by the time she comes back out. she will never be what she was when she started but who is?

Whitney seems to talk through her more recent songs while actually sings the 80's and early 90's hits. I want to see a clip of her singing something from the Bodyguard or even older, that will definitely show us how much her voice has changed. You can't really judge what she has left from a 30 sec clip
Listen to some of these jackasses on here. They obviously know nothing about singing. The voice IS a bunch of muscles and you can train them to get better. You don't think that Whitney Houston and Clive Davis, two friggin LEGENDS in the business, know what they're doing? IF HER VOICE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE THEY WOULD NOT ASK HER TO DO A COMEBACK! They would've done what Virgin Records did to Mariah and paid her to leave the Label. Whitney coming back and She sounds amazing!
Lets remember that a lot of people said Mariah's voice was shot around the time she released Charmbraclet in 2003 and didn't think she had a chance. She proved us all wrong (my self included) when she came back in 05 and showed us how she got her voice back. And Mary J was a drug addict that has definitely improved and developed a stronger voice in time, there is still hope for Whitney. She might not ever be what she once was, but even now she still sounds better than just about every female singer out there!

Actually, you can only improve your voice until age 35. Some of the biggest older stars today have been singing for years and caring for their voice and yet they still don't have the same range, tone or power they once did. Whitney's years of abuse have taken their toll. Her voice might become a tad bit better if she hasn't been training it, but it will never be what it was when she was 25.
