Hugo Chavez's bid to turn the South American country into a socialist state under his dictatorship have been crushed.

Democracy rules!

Venezuelans voted no on a constitutional reform that would have seen the monster able to stay in office INDEFINITELY.

Additionally, Chavez had also been seeking control over foreign currency reserves and to boost his powers to expropriate private property.

Even the powerful Catholic church in Venezuela was against Hugo's changes!

Chavez now HAS to step down by 2013. Thankfully.

And here we are, nearly in 2008, with him still in power, making changes to the constitution so he can stay in power and control the people of Venezuela. "Under his dictatorship" - This man was democratically elected in a free and fair election with objective international observers overseeing the process. It was actually your government that attempted to overthrow this democratically elected government through an abhorrent and brutal military coup!

You also fail to mention that under Chavez millions of people have managed to pull themselves out of the poverty cycle. Certainly the man is not ideal, no politician is, but at least he allows such processes that limit and curtail his authority.

firstly - he was democratically elected. Secondly he has had to fight against a US 'sponsored' opposition 'force'. One question you have to ask yourself, is why a country that has been one of the worlds (no really its the US's) main supplier of oil have the majority of its population living in absolute poverty.
