David Beckham surprised all five Spice Girls, not just his wife Victoria, by giving each one a stunning diamond-encrusted bracelet valued at $100,000 a piece. Dayum.

It helps disadvantaged and sickly children around the world give them medical equipment that they need (ie: wheelchairs, specialty beds, and braces). They have contributed millions to this charity alone. Also they have held charity auctions. The most recent one was at their party, in their home in england, that celebrated the 2006 world cup. At this party they raised 4 million dollars for charity. David and victoria also visit and give gifts to sick children in hospitals and spend time and call children for organizations such as Make a wish foundation. David also is apart of charity work for the MLS and half of the students at his soccer academy come on scholarship. For goodness sakes he's a Unicef goodwill ambassador. So yes they give a lot to charity (monetarily and most important time), but it doesn't get as much publicity (also remember they do most of their charity in England so doesn't get as much press here in US). So if you are going to bitch about someone get your facts straight first. We live in a world where its more interesting to hear about the rumours and the ghastly things celebrities splurge on then about charities.

In my opinion anyone can contribute money to charity, but what most people don't do is actually spend the time to help these charities. Parents of these kids said that the beckhams didn't want any publicity and had called them personally. And it was the parents of these kids who came forward afterwards with the stories. So isn't that a selfless act..trying to do good without the publicity, while Brad and Angie shove it down our throats and are on every mag or tv telling about their causes showing how humanitarian they are. You could argue they are doing it for show and aren't very humble. Which I don't think is the case, but just saying for arguments sake.

Children's charities? A couple of years ago I wrote to the Beckhams AND their management team to ask if they could make a monetary donation or instead donate something to be auctioned off to help save a small village nursery school / mother and toddler group (which was a registered charity) from closing. I explained in my letter the nursery desperately needed extra funding and toys and it's staff/organisers hadn't been paid for months and were working for nothing rather than let it close down. I didn't hear a single thing from either the Beckhams or their managment team, despite contacting them several times. Disney, however, sent a HUGE box of dressing up clothes for the children within weeks of receiving my letter. Even if they didn't feel they could help, a simple response from them would have been nice. Arrogant twats.

That was for 1 movie their were 2 more afterwards. We just read Angie gets $10 million per film and we all have seen from pics on set that they each make more than 1 film a year (more like 2 -3 each). David beckham makes a reported $50 million a year but that includes all of his endorsement. His actual real salary is $6.5 million. Brad and Angie, besides getting crap loads of money for doing movies, have celebrity endorsements. Brad has a huge following in Asian and has endorsed everything you can think of. As there are two of them they actually make a shit load more than the beckhams. Cause we all know that victoria (except for the spice girls right now) spends more than she actually makes.

What I am arguing against is saying that every charitable thing David beckham does is thought of as only for PR purposes, while Brad and Angie's endeavors are from their hearts. I think both david and Pitt/Jolie do charitable out of the goodness of their hearts, so I don't see why one is called a humanitarian while the other is called an attention whore. David has always said that his charities are children based so he always is meeting with ill kids. While he was in sydney recently he meet with kids that were cancer survivors and then also meet kids through the make a wish foundation. David is very busy but always takes the time to spend with children and always signs everyones autograph….how is that selfish? Yes he buys nice things but he also gives a lot too.
