Charges were dropped against Jonathan Rhys Meyers on Wednesday.

A sympathetic judge took pity on the actor, who was arrested for being drunk and abusive last month at the airport in Dublin.

Rhys Meyers' lawyer said his client's behaviour at the airport was "unacceptable and out of character." He said Rhys Meyers "unreservedly apologizes" to airport security guards, police and staff at the British airline BMI, and planned to make a donation to an unspecified charity as a way to acknowledge his wrongdoing.

That's all it takes these days? To apologize?

      His mum was in hospital and died the day after that happened, no wonder the judge went easy on him. I met JRM last year in his home town and he was actually a really nice, fairly down to earth guy who didn't touch a drink all night despite being in a busy pub.

      the judge made the right decision. he is in rehabilitation, paid restitution, and did something positive to benefit others. what more do you want, perez? thirty lashes, public hanging, shock therapy??? we already have the world's largest prison population, even though we only have 1/3 the population. we have to stop putting peeps behind bars for stupid bullshit!

      His mother died 3 days after the incident at the airport, not before. He was charged in Ireland, and the charges were dropped in an Irish court. The vast majority of people get let off on their first offense (of this kind) so he wasn't treated any differently to anyone else, and it has nothing to do with his fame, the color of his skin, his money or the fact that his mother died a few days after the incident.
