She may not be able to swing any votes, but Oprah Winfrey's presence and support can and will get presidential hopeful Barack Obama a lot of attention and (probably) campaign contributions.
And then that in return will score him some votes!
The talk show titan joined the Illinois politician on the campaign trail on Saturday.
"There are times that I even worry about what happens to our country," Momma O said at a town hall in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday. "That is why for the very first time in my life I feel compelled to stand up and speak out for the man who I believe has a new vision for America."
This is the first time that Oprah has publicly supported a presidential candidate.
"I understand the difference between the Book Club and a free refrigerator," she said. "I understand the difference between that and this critical moment in our nation's history. This is very, very personal. I'm here because of my personal conviction about Barack Obama and what I know he can do for America."

Unfortunately, there are some decent candidates on both sides, and this is a pivotal moment for this country. Healthcare costs bankrupt people. The rich get richer while the middle class is disappearing. And in some places property taxes are through the roof. Whether you are educated or not, black or white shouldn't matter. YOu should vote based on your conscience and based on the candidate whose policies have the most potential to help every tax paying citizen of this country.
I don't care who Oprah endorses. If you watch her show she is always touting the latest new agey crackpot. With all her money, she's still a person trying to find herself. And while I applaud her efforts and other celebrities efforts to champion causes and donate large sums of money to charity, I don't think any of them are uniquely equipped to relate to your issues.
You're all yelling about this, but here's something to think about. Rudy Giuliani, is actually quite liberal in his social views, gay marraige, abortion, gun control. He cleaned up NYC after the Dinkins administration, and even though his personal life leads a lot to be desired. He was effective.

Oprah supporting Obama is not a good thing. There are millions of women in the country that follow everything Oprah does, regardless of their knowledge of the issue Oprah is addressing. Supporting a candidate based on a television personality's opinion is bad for the democratic process, and millions of women will vote for Obama just because Oprah tells them to, not because they know where he stands on issues or that they believe he will make a good presidential candidate. This can only harm Obama and the country, in one way or another.
Obama is an empty suit. If Obama was white, we would not even be talking about him. And as for Hillary, she has just as much experience as any other "First Lady". So I guess Laura Bush, Mrs. Carter, Nancy Reagan, etc.. should run for president. The only problem with that is they are not power hungry anti christ's.
