"Hi Perez,
I can’t believe Lauren Conrad is trying to lead the public to believe all reality shows are staged. Her life must really be boring if the producers have to make so much stuff up. I was on the latest season of The Apprentice (a show about “boring” business people – not even supposed California socialites experiencing the high life) and I can tell you that every single thing on my show was real. No scripts, no re-shoots for “continuity” and certainly no fake characters like you say they introduce on The Hills. Obviously some of the dating shows on tv are bullshitty and a bit put on– but they make it pretty obvious. The Hills is filmed documentary style and presented as “reality.” LC should just suck it up and admit she is a faker. Would anyone really be surprised or upset?
The Apprentice is real. Reality shows are real. It’s just Lauren Conrad’s show that apparently is fake.

I watched a show on VH1 about reality tv shows. The Apprentice is real, but some of the scenes on the show are done over, or done before the show even began (such as the shots of the contestants leaving who were "fired".those were filmed before they left!)
I believe her show had some "fake" elements….more than she is leading on. All all reality shows have some element of trickery!

I don't care if the show reshoots scenes. It is way more entertaining than the Apprentice. Didn't they have trouble with ratings?

Yeeeeah, okay. Right. She's trying to defend an MTV reality show and is also saying that hers was real?! Unbelievable. The Hills is so far from real it's not even funny. I never watched the Apprentice but I've seen the Hills and it is totally fake. Their lives aren't even interesting when scripted. They have nothing to do but shop, party and gossip. Life must be so hard for the attractive, rich, white girls.

You have to keep in mind that when Laguna was first shot, everyone on it was underage. The cameras were not allowed to be on 24-7. So they re-enacted lots of things during the times that they were allowed to shoot. My guess is they just kept the same deal this time.

however, not all reality shows are very real. look at all the "celebreality" shows on VH1. They are all VERY planned out ahead of time.
Hogan knows best = every episode is geared toward a specific theme with certain beats that must happen to progress the storyline. Proof = certain places that they visit that must be cleared legally before they visit them as well as certain cameos had to be set up beforehand as well.
The Scott Baio Show = The entire series was outlined before it was even presented to him with the outcome being that he decides to get married. Proof = every cameo must have been set up ahead of time. Nothing was spontaneous.
