I dont know why anyone made a big deal out of the nail polish thing. The people who were on laguna beach said a long time ago that if something important happened off camera they had to have the same conversation or do the same thing again in front of the camera. Otherwise you wouldnt know what was going on if they hadnt been there to film it and you missed a big moment.

It isn't fake but MTV manipulates scenes. Even when LC was doing LB she & Kristin both stated that if MTV missed something major that went on they would have to redo whatever fight or discussion went on for the cameras. On both The Hills & LB MTV puts footage together that isn't totally accurate to tell he story. I've recognized comments made off camera in one scene also being placed later in the episode to dramatize something. They had a scene from The HIlls Lauren Looks Back where Stephen puts a do not disturb sign on the door when he & LC were in Mexico. I think that was actually from when he & Kristin went to his senior prom & they stayed together. So it may not be 100% as it happened because of the way MTV edits the show but I don't think the main story lines & how Lauren's life is portrayed on the show are fake.

This is no different than any other show except there isn't a formal script. Just like all the other reality shows - they are a cheap way of making more money for the networks because you can eliminate writers, pay the actors lower wages and cut overhead by quite a bit. No problem with any of that, that's just how it is.

I have to be honest, I dont watcxh the Hills but I was the hugest fan of Laguna. I watched a speciaL on filming Laguna Beach and it was the same thing. Basically they film every second weekend for 8 months. Because theyre actual peoples lives, They dont stop because thew camera isnt roling. Youll notice Laguna first season jumpoed way more often. They decided to start re-filming scenes to let viewers understand how they got from a to b.
For example, Laguna season 3 I think…all the girls hated eachother. It was an all season story line… Alex and Taylor vs Kristen and crew. Then all of a sudden in one scene, theyre all friends at a nail salon. Like it was normal. OBVIOUSLY for that they didnt retape the scene of them making amends,….but everyone watching was like WTF happened???? With the Hills I am assuming its the same thing. There is all this talk I cant believe that special isnt aired more.

it's not scripted. obviously they're gonna show the juicy stuff and manipulate it because they want to have a successful show. would we be that interested in seeing them hang out and watch movies or go to the gym all the time? not really…they show what we want to see. also, if it was scripted, it would be on hiatus like the other shows cuz of that little thing called the writer's strike.

Of course some things are set up duh. We already know that. It isn't like the whole show is fake though because then heid and lauren would have meet ups wayyy more lauren would actually have brody and so much more stuff they could do if it was scripted. for those of you that still think it is, i don't even see why it really matters. its a good show. greys is scripted but we still watch that. just get over it.

At this point, none of this matters. The Hills is the best show on MTV. It might be a little fake, but so is The Real World and I Love New York. At this point the only thing people are doing is making her more famous. I don't have a problem at all with anything she's doing. I would rather have my niece look up to Lauren before Paris Hilton or even disrespectful Jessica Alba.

um, it's common knowledge that most show are edited, and yes, this includes reality shows. The basis of the show is real, but obviously the shit is edited and scenes and dates don't always add up. The real world, the apprentice (regardless, of what the former contestant says, and various other reality shows. I love the hills, and I will continue to watch. Rock on THE HILLS.

I miss Laguna Beach, the first season was so fresh and nice, even now when I know it was redone sometimes, it is still fun to watch, characters, youth and silliness… it all seemed to be natural. Hills is not that great, its like theyre pushing stuff to happen. Mtv should rethink the formula as the cast and everyone with the show act fake in front of the camera and that is the bad thing… everyone would act in front of any camera, but to act fake is a bad, bad, bad thing.
