Remember the Grey Album?
Gnarls Barkley's Danger Mouse took Jay-Z and mashed it up with the Beatles for one of the most downloaded bootlegs of all time.
Now, a D.C.-based DJ named DJ Doc Rok has made a CD mixing Jay-Z's new album, American Gangster, with some classic Led Zeppelin tracks.

I actually think its cool that we can blend too music genres in order to create something "new". I actually love the songs. As a result of some listening to it, maybe they will discover that they like Led Zeppelin as much as they like Hip Hop. It's a great fusion in my opinion. I really believe this is more of compliment to Led Z than an insult.

This is terrible, as was the Grey Album. The music is fantastic, you just can't hear it very well over Jay-Z ruining it. Oh, and way to copy off of Diddy who did Kashmir like a decade ago. That was horrible, too. If you can't make your own music or find someone to do it for you and you have to take it from actual musicians, you need to just stop, because you're ruining masterpieces.

I understand your anger and confusion at the new techniques being adopted by producers and rappers. You're right… your generation did give us a lot of good music… but isn't music meant to inspire? Especially your children, new artists and innovators? Everyone loves a classic, no doubt about it. There's no need to take an almost religious stance with music though, I doubt any artist young or old has EVER done anything to affect your life personally aside from their music. You can express your views without being Zealots.
That being said, Dangermouse as I assume DJ Doc Rok, never made money out of the remixes. They did it because, like a lot of people out there, they enjoy music, and this is how they express themselves, they release their remixes with fears of band's legal actions and RIAA pressures. If you take a moment to read any information on Dangermouse you'll see he's as much a fan of the Beatles as many of you old fucks.
I am 26 and have actually had the chance to sit down and interview Robert Plant and Jimmy Page seperately for a local tv station. We had a great repertoire and spoke about music candidly. I even played "Kashmir" on my phone as it was the ringer. Page was touring with members of the electronica band Portishead and he was loving the experience. Why can't you Zealots?
Lastly, what the HELL are you doing on Perez' website wasting time trying to beat your chest going red in the face to people who are half your age. You speak of your children, well then, go to work, get them more "classic" discs. We're all too old to be acting this way… but you cantankerous old fucks are WAY too old.
