Women certainly are held to higher standards of physical beauty than men among actors, but I would say that the opposite is true when it comes to talent. Certainly, a beautiful actress will invariably be described as "talented and beautiful" regardless of whether she possesses any discernible talent whatsoever.

She is right. Women have to be pretty but not too interesting. Try to think of an "interesting" woman character. Men, on the other hand, can be unique as all hell and they don't have to be particularly good looking. A woman would have never made it as al pacino, danny devito, or Steve Buscemi.

Uma . . . teetering right on the edge, isn't she? Telling the truth about how shallow life is in Hollywood - - - kinda dangerous ground. (But she's got a point: there's room for guys who aren't gorgeous, but not for women once they hit 50, unless they are Meryl Streep or Glenn Close or a few others.)
