The GCI on the rain drops at the start was absolutely toss. Looks like a kid did it with a marker pen. I lost interest after that. Just another Tim Burton intro (yawn)

I'm having low expectations of this film. I love the live stage version of Sweeney Todd, I just hate Jonny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Seriously watching Tim Burton films you'd think they were the ONLY actors out there. Pants.

I am a fan of the musical and of Burton. But, the opening credits are boring. 3 minutes of traveling blood isn't exactly entertaining, or intriguing. It's just gross. However, I've seen other clips from the movie and it is AMAZING! So, the credits do not do the movie any justice.
Why does Johnny Depp look so hot in movies….but he looks like a creepy, homeless man in real life…such a shame. He's so damn hot!
Saw the early screening last night and can say that this preview isn't nearly worth it… while I love the overture, the rest movie is really so much more amazing. For someone who does not like Tim Burton, Johnny, or Helena, I would pay good money to see this a few times more.

Absolutely amazing. Sweeny Todd has been one of my favourite musicals since I was a kid (I'm 28 now, so it's been around for a while). When I heard Tim Burton was making it into a movie I nearly fell out of my chair and have been waiting anxiously for, what, 2 years now? A more brilliant cast could not have been chosen, and although most of them are not singers by trade, the wonders of the modern age have rendered them fantastic (after all, if it can make Ashley Simpson sound like she can carry a tune, then making Johnny Depp pass for a Broadway performer must have been a piece of cake).
For those who think it looks boring, get yourself a little culture and get out to a theatre once in a while. If you're anything like the rest of the overprivledged, ungrateful emo brats who cut yourselves in your school's bathrooms in an attempt to "feel something" - this will be more than dark enough for you. Although I hope your intellect is up to the challenge of taking on Sondheim.

The movie should start with the whistle, like the Broadway production did. That'll shock the emo kids out of their seats for sure. This movie will ruin the wonderful Sondheim masterpiece in the eyes of Americans. From now on, if you ask someone about Sweeney Todd, they'll shriek something along the lines of: "OMG, Johnny Depp is sooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!" No, forget all the amazing talent that went into Sweeney Todd for years before Tim Burton got his grubby hands on it. Also… Mrs. Lovett is an amazing character completely wasted on Helena Bonham Carter, who plays a zombie in every movie she makes.
Bitch, you forgot to mention the engaging and beautifully talented Helena Bonham Carter.

um i don't know why everyones talking shit, i can't remember the last time a Tim Burton film let me down, and its getting AMAZING reviews so far - 100% positive on review sites, maybe you should read up on it, or hey i dont know, SEE IT before you start ripping on people who are about 5 million times more talented than you. half the people saying shit are barely smart enough to access this site on the interwebs, let alone be involved in making a brilliant gorgeous film. from the looks of the reviews i bet this will get an Oscar. eat shit everyone.

You're not a nerd! I totally flipped when I realized that Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, and the Peter Pettigrew dude were in it. Which leads me to the fact that if Perez broadened his knowledge of amazing actors a bit more…he totally should have mentioned Rickman, if not for his ultimately velvety sexy voice.

I also saw a screening of this film last night and it was disappointing. It had a real dull sedate energy to it and seemed slow moving and boring and I love this musical. Nothing was new and it was sad as I believe it could have been a much better movie musical.
