Carson Gets Flamed

The bitter war between the hollywood writers and the evil media mogul wages on! And Carson Daly has once again been caught in the crossfire of the volatile work stoppage.

Earlier this week, a group of striking scribes infiltrated a taping of Daly's NBC talk show.

Carson is the first and (thus far only) late night host to cross the picket line and return to work.

Daly was "clearly disconcerted" and "visibly rattled" when the striking writers disrupted an interview he was conducting.

About 20 undercover writers ended up walking out of the show after the disruption.

      These writers are turning into total asshats! They are behaving like Nazi's harassing, spamming, bullying and intimidating everyone who doesn't agree with them and take their side. Carson has his own issues, as does everyone else in the fight who has lost their job with nothing to gain from this strike. I have had it with them….sympathy…OVER.

      Yes i agree at the being of the strike i was like cool they want whats deserved to them but now its just getting riducless. the writers dont care who else they hurt with the strike cause no matter what they get paid especially when the networks play reruns but all this below the line who are out of work and could possibly lose everything but all the writers care about is money not about anyone

Carson lacks the edge/skill/charisma/spontonaeity/humour/interviewing abilities etc.etc. to pull "IT" off. I have only watched Carson maybe 3x and have found it 2 be totally LACKLUSTER. I've wondered HOW & WHY this HBOOOOOORING Dude is still on the air…'New blood is definitely REQUIRED…Paid Programming is more exciting than this Crappy "Show……….."

      What is interesting is that according to Carson, he was given a choice of going back on air or the staff of the show, which is 75 people would be fired. He has altogether a total of 4 writers for his show. I doubt he makes the money that Leno and the others make to pay the salaries of 75 people. If the choice was to save 75 peoples jobs at the expense of 4 people I support his decision. You forget that all these actors that are walking off set to support the writers can afford to not be paid….What about the stage hands? The Grips? These people are getting nothing, and do you really think that the writers, directors, producers, or actors give two shits about the real people and offer any support when it is their turn for better wages?

      I support Carsons' decision to go back to work. In current economic environment no real people can afford to not work.

      Remember the average salary of a writer in the WGA is over $200,000 a year.

      Carson is Ryan Seacrest Sr. How Carson or Ryan got jobs hosting shows about music is one the mysteries of the Universe. Neither of them knows a thing about music, unless it is Beonce, Madonna or Nikleback sing it.

      The only person hated more in the industry is Ryan Seacrest. Its amazing that two guys who are disliked but just about everyone, and respected by hardly anyone works as much as they do.

      The word scribe is not usually used to describe someone who produces creative works, more of a clerk or gatherer of information..like you. You are a scribe. Also, I want to point out how only in America can you be unattractive, lazy, stupid (growing up laying in bed watching tv all day like a veal calf) and someone be paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. Congrats.

      (shudder) Aside from that, some other people bring up very good points… he actually CARES that the other 75 people on his show would be without jobs during Christmas… what would you do? If you'd spent years on a show seeing the same people's faces day after day, they're like family. If and when the strike ends, he would have had to face these people again and say "I'm sorry you couldn't pay bills or buy Christmas presents, but I couldnt do the show because of the strike"? LAME! This is the best alternative given, like someone else said, he can't pay these people out of his own pocket like Leno or Letterman. Writers are still getting residuals even though theyre on the picket lines, for their work that's being aired on tv, as are the actors who refuse to cross or whose productions have shut down… hairstylist, costumers, drivers, set construction, grips, etc on those shows… are making NOTHING right now! Wake up people!

      FIrst of all Carson DID NOT want to cross the picket line, but the same a$$hole producers that are not wanting to pay the writers came to Carson with an Ultimatum. Go back to work or 75 of your closest friends who work on the show are going to get fired for Christmas. With no alternative he was forced to go back to work for his co-workers. I assure you Carson has plenty of money and did not need to go back to work…. He was doing it for the livelyhood of the 75 innocent victims who work on his show.

      Carson's situation is not like that of other late night talk hosts. The writing staff on his show is ALOT less important than on the others. He doesn't have the personal cash to pay his staff through a strike. His show is not that popular & in a sucky late-late slot, so he's probably worried about losing the show and all the jobs it supports if he takes a stand. He is nowhere in the league of Leno and Letterman and it's unfair to expect him to do as they do. I heard his interview on KROQ (probably like the others supporting him here) and he sounded genuinely stressed and upset about his dilemma, totally unlike his usual calm (bland & boring) self.

      Now I am all for the writers getting their much needed benefits and money from the internet sales. But I think it is really selfish of them to try to force people to lose their jobs. The non writing staff of late night with carson daly would have lost their jobs if he didnt come back to work.
