Congratulations to Chris Daughtry - the biggest selling artist in the U.S. for 2007!

Yup, the American Idol alum's Daughtry sold 3.2 million copies this year, continuing a trend of domination by the talent competition.

Carrie Underwood also previously held the titles of U.S. sales champ.

Behind Daughtry this year was Akon, whose Konvicted sold 2.7 million and spawned many hit singles.

Disney star Miley Cyrus, surprisingly, was the biggest selling female artist of the year, selling 2.5 million copies of the latest Hannah Montana soundtrack.

She was followed closely by Fergie, who sold 2.4 million copies of her debut solo album. It should be noted, though, that The Dutchess was originally released in 2006, so Fergie's success in '07 is that much more noteworthy.

And, rounding out the list of the top selling albums of the year is another American Idol alum, Carrie Underwood, whose Some Hearts sold 2.3 million copies. Her album came out in '06 too!

The High School Musical 2 soundtrack barely made the cut!

      biggest selling? yes. biggest impact? even if you're just speaking in commercial terms, Daughtry's gotta be miles behind T-Pain - he was just on EVERYTHING last year, and it seemed like everything he touched made the charts. Didn't he either sing or appear on something like five songs which appeared in the top twenty simultaneously at one point?

      People can say what they will, but the numbers don't lie and that's what is bringing out the haters. Chris is giving the fans what they want–great shows, music and LOTS of love and appreciation, all of which contribute to him being King. I've been to 7 shows, met the man twice and he is personable, down-to-earth real, loving and friendly. Bear hugs of steel, too. I love him and I have great taste in music and the finer things in life. Chris is definitely all that so get over it and let me get back to my Daughtry party.

      Maybe other artists should sit up and take notice, and, as a plus, their fans won't have to spend all their CD dollars on Counseling to rid themselves of all that hate. Maybe their fans will buy more CDs and everyone will be happy. Sounds like a good formula for everyone involved.
