David Letterman is returning to TV!

Why? How?

The chat show host not only stars in his CBS talker but he also owns and produces it. Therefore, Letterman has just been able to negotiate an independent contract with the Writers Guild.

Dave himself is a WGA member.

His should could be back on the air in a matter of days.

Also, NBC is expected to announce today that both Leno and O'Brien will be back on the air by January 2nd, although they'll be coming back without writers.

Jay and Conan are merely "hired help" and can't negotiate their own deal with the writers guild. Their shows are owned by NBC, who are being dicks to the writers.

Big coup for Dave.

lisa - can't agree more. The writers are simply behaving like selfish little brats. That is one of the reasons I hate unions. They only think of themselves and are the biggest of hypocrits. They say they are for the "little guy" but what about all the collateral damege they have created? What about all the poeple who have lost their jobs or been laid off becasuse of a few sniveling brat writers? What are all those families going to do for Christmas huh? The writers are full of crap and deserve nothing more.

I always loved Dave.!!! He is so much better than Leno! He is a real class act. Good for him! he really seems to take care of his people. I was at a taping of his show once and he seemed so genuinely nice. During commercial breaks, he would joke with his staff…camera men, sound guys, etc. That is rare.

Dave shows us once again that he is a leader not a follower like that bitch Leno. The first one to come out with paying all of his staff while the strike was on was Dave. Then that sad little freak Leno jumped on board. Leno wouldn't have a original thought to save his own life, if it isn't written on cue cards he is lost. Leno sucks!
