The Writers' Guild announced Monday that it would not grant the Golden Globes (or the Oscars) WGA waivers. This means that no Guild members can work on the show.

The writers will most likely picket the Globes and the actors will stand in solidarity with them, refusing to cross the picket line and boycotting the ceremony.

I'm sick of this. All the good shows, we don't know when they're coming back. Shows that have been on for YEARS, all because someone's being greedy-the writers or the people who pay them. I respect your opinion and all but many many people (who have nothing to do with this strike) are losing their jobs because of this. It's not fair at all to them. I support the writers yet I respect those who have made the decision to cross the picket lines. It's a very difficult decision, one none of them took lightly. Hundreds, maybe thousands will be laid off because of this. If I had to make the choice, I would cross the picket lines. I wouldn't want someone who has a family to support to get laid off because they are stuck in the middle of this. I think this whole thing is senseless and could have been avoided.

The AMPTP offered a new media package after the WGA dumped their demand to renegotiate DVD residuals (which they do currently get, it pays for their health care and pension) but then the WGA tried to wedge in a clause at the last minute to unionize reality and animation writers (which is illegal to unionize people who haven't voted on unionizing) and said everything else was a non-starter without that illegal clause added.

The AMPTP is resonsible to SHAREHOLDERS to be as profitable as possible. It's just as silly to fault them for not just lavishing money on every asshole who asks for more. Many of our 401(k) retirement plans have shares of their companies in them. I don't want my retirement fund to lose value so some asshole who writes Cavemen can make and extra $500 a year.

The writers deserve some money for 'new media' but they need to stop being as greedy as they accuse everyone else of being.

That's just bullshit! They gave permission for the WGA Awards in January, which is pretty much their own awards, but they refused permission for the writers to work on the Golden Globe or Oscars. That means that actors, crew, and movies that are up for awards will not get one because of the strike, if each show is canceled. Screw the writers AND the networks for playing like children. maybe now the actors, who are so quick to side with the writers and put EVERYONE ELSE out of work, will lose something in all of this….because NEWSFLASH! THE ACTORS ARE STILL BEING PAYED! And believe me, if any other union was striking, the writers and actors would not give a fuck and would cross those picket lines without blinking an eye!

I'm sorry, but if these fuckers can spend months standing around 'picketing' without a paycheck — you DON'T have my sympathy. Fuck them. There's plenty of talented people who can write in the US. If you can afford this kind of vacation, you don't need more money. I don't need my cable bill getting hiked up just because you want a newer Saab. I am sick of this boycott…I feel like they are just being selfish. But joke is on them right now, it is xmas time and they aren't getting paid squat! Dumbasses prolly thought the studios would have settled with them already. Fire the whole lot of them and hire new writers who would be more that happy with they "measly" pay they were getting. HA (Which I do feel sorry for the hairdressers and make up artists,etc who are not getting paid…it is not their fault they dont have work, they arent the selfish ones)

Criss Angel Is Recorded Threatening To Knock Out His Producer!

Whoa! Criss Angel is NOT messing around here!

The Luxor headlining illusionist was recorded having quite the verbal altercation with Joe Monti, one of his magic producers on Wednesday, during which Angel is heard threatening to knock him out - and now he's had a police report filed against him!

Furthermore, Monti later said to authorities that he recorded the meeting because Angel has a history of bullying employees!

He explains:

“I wanted him to know how demeaning he was. I created 50-60 percent of the magic for ‘Mindfreak.' I have no reason to do anything vindictively but I draw the line on violence.”
