      Jacqueline Doherty book is a heart-filled testament to her struggles of being Peter's mum and all that she and her family have had to endure as a result of his problems. It is a beautiful tragedy but being pro-Pete as I am, I couldn't be more proud of his continued efforts to get clean. Personally, I don't view her book as a way to cash in on her son's success but, as she says herself within the book, it is much more of a guiding light and a means of support for others who may find themselves in a similar situation with a family member or friend.

      As far as Debbie Nelson's book, it saddens me that whoever is in charge of layout and design (if this is in fact to be the final design) has blatantly copied Mrs. Doherty's book, and has done so in much less a sincere fashion. Mrs. Doherty's book shows sorrow and compassion and the picture of her and Peter is warm and embracing. The other book stereotypically makes Eminem look like a thug and the picture of his mother and him is about as compassionate as a smack in the face. As far as the motive for its release, at face value it seems to have been written only to clear the writer’s name, she being Debbie Nelson.

      I do hope Ms. Nelson’s book get a make-over as I would appreciate a clear separation from a mother’s plea for the health of her son versus a mother just trying to clear her name.

      IF this book is being published by the same place, there could just be a template that is used for authors who don't have enough backing to require a custom design.

      I've learned from a writer friend that the author (especially first time/unknown) gets no say in the cover design. It just goes to the publishers in-house design firm.
