The stars of two of the biggest films this holiday season launched their legendary careers over a board game.
While playing Monopoly, Nicolas Cage suggested to then guitar player Johnny Depp that he try acting.
"There was something about him I thought was quite funny," Cage told the John Jay & Rich morning radio show. "So I introduced him to my agent."
The very next day Depp landed his first acing role in Nightmare on Elm Street.. even Cage admits in Hollywood "That doesn't happen," and that Depp is "probably the most lucky person I have ever met."

Well, everyone now likes to claim they helped Johnny to his career..Johnny has confirmed this story several times and sure, that's how it all started in the very beginning but let's face it, Johnny Depp is THE most gifted actor the world has seen in decades. There are no limits to what he can do, or so it seems to be! He would never have made it this far with sheer luck, the man is simply great at what he does… and that's how he made his career. I find it amazing to watch him act. And besides, he is incredibly beautiful inside and out, as well as damn HOT!!

johnny depp is the most gifted actor in hollywood. he can do anything and he's extremely talented. in addition, he's such a great family man. he loves his wife and his children. he's never in the "tabloids" because he's also incredibly shy. who could tell that by the incredible characterization he gives in each performance. you never see johnny on the screen; you just see the character he plays (unlike other incredibly money successful actors that have yet to prove themselves). i LOVE johnny depp and it's time he wins an oscar. forgot to mention that he's also handsome. wow! except for his tattoos, he's the prefect man!!! (nobody's perfect, sigh!)

I have a new found respect for Nicolas Cage, I used to think he was OK - you know a decent actor who couldn't be faulted at what he does etc. but nothing special - but now I love the guy 'cos if it wasn't for him I probably would have never been able to daydream about Johhny Depp and watch all his films with fascination as to how good an actor he is and how god damn fit he is lol.

Nicholas Cage shouldn't try taking credit for the success of Depp's carerr. Go rent A Nightmare On Elm Street on DVD and listen to the commentary by Wes Craven. Wes auditioned some guys and had two in mind he wanted for the character Glen. He left it up to his daughters to pick the one they liked best and they both picked Johnny Depp. He also said that he would have picked Depp anyway because he was a very good actor for someone who had never done it before and likes using people new to acting in his films.
