Too free and easy with the tasering….maybe it's just so much easier and takes minimal effort to give them a zap than to actually have to restrain them physically. A tiny woman against the Police as above…wtf? The poor man (one unarmed man) at the Vancouver Airport did not speak English, was in a foreign country, was confused and agitated, and is tasered until he falls down dead. Do they not have better guidelines on it's use than these lame and unnecessary instances?

I've heard this story… true story… that in Toronto cops tazered a mentally ill patient who had not taken their meds (I believe he was skitzo). And he died. They didn't even talk to the guy, they just saw him acting 'different' and they killed him.

Here in Vancouver Robert Dziekanski died at Vancouver airport after being tasered twice. The video of his death is all over the internet, and it is quite disturbing. It shows a non-threatening man surrendering to a number of police officers (who could have EASILY subdued him by physical force alone if they really thought he was a threat) before he is tasered twice and has a knee dropped on top of his throat.
Amnesty International says 17 people have died in Canada since 2001 after being tasered. And this is a technology considered 'safe' by law enforcement agencies and the companies that produce the tasers. Duh, you're sending 50,000 volts of electricity through someone's body…of course it isn't safe!!! In some countries, the electric chair is used to kill people….electricity is not our friend.

No, the cop tasered the woman for not following the officers commands. Here's a tip kiddies. If a cop tells you to do something, do it. Don't yell, don't cuss, don't swing your arms around. Being a cop is a tough job, and while there are bad cops there are a lot more stupid people such as this woman. The country needs cops. Look around at all the thievess, thugs, drive by shooters, gangsters and punks out there. You might say that the cop shouldn't have wasted time on "minor" crimes. Re: karma – I should have added, with regards to a Pitchess Motion, if a cop ever does something improper, like excessive force, be sure to file a complaint. Even if Internal Affairs determines it as "unfounded" (which they usually do), the complaint has to stay in a cop's file for about 5 years, I believe. Over a course of 5 years, complaints like that can add up. Sooner or later, a Pitchess Motion will bring this pattern of behavior out, exposing a cop in court, and saving some poor victim/defendant. Even if the exchange with a cop is minimal, if you feel the cop did you wrong, FILE THE COMPLAINT! A Sergeant or higher up may try to talk you out of it (because he/she knows it stays in the cop's file, regardless of the findings), but don't let it pass. As long as your complaint is legitimate, it may eventually be of help to someone, perhaps when it's needed the most.

the cops are getting out of hand. there is a strip of highway between two cities where i live, and if you drive on that road between 12am and 5am, you will get pulled over, no matter what. i've been followed for miles and miles, with a cop tailgating me (i guess trying to freak me out into doing something stupid), and i was pulled over just a few weeks ago for…having my brights on? in the same area. he made some suspicious comment about my purse, and hoped like hell we'd been drinking, but when neither proved to be anything to worry about, he let us go. i understand some cops put up with god knows what, but that gives them no right to assume the worst about everyone. while crackheads thrive in the neighborhood i grew up in, regardless of hundreds of calls to the cops, i get regularly pulled over, and have even been harassed for no less than an hour over an eighth of pot. i think this whole justice system has gone to shit, and until they fix it, this shit is gonna keep on happening.
