Pakistani activist Benazir Bhutto, leader of the country's Opposition party, was assassinated on Thursday in a horrific and unnecessary act of violence.

At least 15 of Bhutto’s followers were also killed when a suicide bomber attacked at a political rally.

So sad.

WHAT UNDERLINES HER BRAVERY EVEN MORE IS THAT SHE DID ALL OF THIS IN A COUNTRY WHERE YOU CAN BE ARRESTED FOR EXPRESSING YOUR POLITICAL OPINIONS WHILE BEING FEMALE. SHE HAD MORE BALLS THAN MOST MEN I KNOW AND HAS DONE MORE THAN ANYONE I KNOW!! IT ONLY TAKES ONE COURAGEOUS PERSON TO START A MOVEMENT. HISTORY WILL FIND HER MESSAGE TO BE EVEN MORE POWERFUL AFTER HER ASSASINATION.

Write more about her!! She was a truly remarkable person! The first woman to be elected Prime Minister in a Muslim Country and the youngest! She implemented many social reforms, such as schools, banks for women, and even changed the opinion of women in her country! She went into Pakistan hoping for democracy, even though she was warned about the possible attacks against her! RIP!!

Re: Ryan – What….you backpeddle then put your foot in your mouth…make up your mind….no…we went to Afghanistan for a multitude of reasons…mainly because that is where Al Quaida was training…as well as in Iraq…and yes, we went to Iraq to take Saddam and his terror militia regime out of office, as he was just like the Taliban…the people wanted him out…yes they did, as they are the ones that executed his ass….REMEMBER?? We are not the only ones that dislike terrorism…sorry, America is NOT alone…..not in the battle nor wanting it to be over, sadly idiots like yourself do not want to fight the battle…forgetting that if our soldiers do not fight it, our civilians will….this is the choice that our government made, thankfully….it is the right choice, and the only way to deal with terrorists…hit them first, yes it is the ONLY answer…..

Re: Sad Truth…now deal with it… – Oh and sorry, no we never went to Iraq at the time for that. But then Bush will want you to believe that. Oh, and please tell me where is the proof Saddam was planning attacks? I dislike the man as much as most, but we went to war for the complete wrong reasons and it could have been dealt with better. Even the UN was against the war. In no way have I back peddled and you are the one with a rather large foot in your mouth.

First of all, "over there" over where? Pakistan is not in the Middle East. This already has happened in America. Have you ever opened a book? America has had a fair share of political leaders assassinated.

And if anyone knows anything about history, the middle east has had female rulers for ages now.

Benazir Bhutto came from a very political family and although not everyone in her family did great things for Pakistan, she was a great, brave woman who will be remembered.

This is incredibly sad. This type of injustice and horrible oppressive violence starts with the core of fear and dishonest greed. I have had this conversation with many. Unfortunately Hollywood, though on one hand can be very good about bringing awareness and truth to the forefront, on the other hand is full of publicists and managers/celebs/box office that help to create and feed the grand illusion by hiding truth's burying lies and being all about the almighty dollar. It is no mystery that that very wealthy powerful actors and their staff will often do anything to come up smelling like roses. The same people you see supporting the troops, involved with causes, supposed do-gooders do not hesitate to keep the machine of betrayal and lies going when it comes to themselves. Such incidents and acts of political violence as with this amazing woman won't end until people with influence act from a place of accountability and truth, love and real compassion. The fact that people front a cause or two does not wipe out their own deceit. People have to start with themselves and that the only thing that will create real change. There are many pretenders out there. My hats off to the real ones. It is not the easy road but it is the only road that will turn things around. May she rest in peace and may her spirit be as powerful on the other side in bringing light into this world.

Perez, you should focus your attention to issues, and peoples of the world such as this. Not the ridiculous false gods the American pop culture has created.

She was a terrible prime minister. Not that the ones in charge are that great. However she was probably killed by her husband (who murdered her own brother and scores of other people through similar scenarios) or by her Govt. I am betting on her husband. Either way, a tragedy.
