Goldfrapp, one of our favorites, has just dropped their new single, and it's….

It's a completely different direction.

The glam electro pop superstars have abandoned the sounds that made them famous and are now more reminiscent of The Corrs, at least on this track.

We still don't quite know what to make of it.

It's not bad. Just so different.

      it thinks its great, i know how bad your taste is in everything Perez so i can understand your confusion of whats what especially when things change. And this is a great song, artists get boring if they just keep doing the same thing over and over, and this is a great new direction. People can't handle change very well and like to label and put things in neat little packages without changing anything. Madonna understands this concept and goes against it, that is why we still hear her music, talk about her and why people still love to hater her, change is good!! embrace it!!

      I like it. Did you listen to the first album - that sound was different from the other albums too. I actually liked the film noir feel of the first album. If you listen to all the albums there is sonic progression and similarities between the albums. I like that they mix it up. It shows talent and some daring.

      Actually, it's not all that different to the stuff on "Felt Mountain." And I, for one, am kinda glad they didn't make ANOTHER album that sounds just like "Black Cherry" again. Anyway - this is gorgeous.

      The only constant thing about Goldfrapp is change - every single album of theirs is a new direction (usually quite radical change). Love it!

      P.S. This picture is very old (2003) and does not suite the music at all, new promo pictures are nicer!

      as much as perez would like to beleive that he's "discovered" every group since he "discovered" electro(clash), this RETURN to chill-ambient for GOLDFRAPP is in no way startling. listen to the single UTOPIA for a feel for their roots, recorded over 6 years ago. it's troubling for the BRATZ to realize that there was an entire real world out here before thier adolescence, but anyone with a true interest in the FULL tapestry of music really would explore deeper before limiting such a limitless group like GOLDFRAPP!

      Many people only know their last album, Supernature, which was comercially succesful and accessible. Goldfrapp fans know them from way earlier (Felt Mountain) and this sound is not the shocker it is to other people. The A&E single is the worst track on their new abum though, but it does have airplay potential, just in a different 'genre' of music if you will. The album as a whole is much stronger. You can download it Perez. If you don't have it: reach me. I do. It will drop in February. The new album grew on me REAL fast. It's a gem. The song on itself isn't very special. I agree. But wait for the album: It is SO sensual and SO soothing, emotional and calming… whoa!

      PEREZ - must everything sound like a quasi pseudo Britney Spears hit for you to like it??? I respect your editorials - misspellings aside. BUT, Goldfrapp is simply delicious no matter how you spell it! Have you heard the first albums. She can't simply be boxed into one particular style - which is unique to "True Artists!" In layman's terms - "IT's WONDERFUL!"

      first off, electro was not their first sound. if you listen to their album pre-black cherry they were very slow melodic dark swing club. do your research, it should be expect they would changed their sound: that's goldfrapp.

      I really like it. I think that 'Clowns' is better (another track off Seventh Tree), but I still like it. It's different, but they're experimenting with different sounds & that's very brave of them. It sounds like they're going back to their roots a bit. A&E sounds like a soft-rock Felt Mountain.

      Definitely a different direction, but oh la la that voice of hers! Intimate, emotionally fragile, and crystalline blue production purity. I would love to hear how this track sounds against the larger scope of the album (when?)

      I actually am extremely in love with the song.. :) even if it is different from their last two albums..(Black Cherry, Supernature)…but it does remind me of Felt Mountain…I don't know ..I just really really am in love with the song…The Seventh Tree album isn't 100% terrible. There are some gems on the album :)

      I love Goldfrapp too - it isn't what I was expecting, but it'll grow on me. They haven't detached too far from ye olde days.
      And I think Kylie was completely ripping off Ooh La La in "Two Hearts" and, in fact most of her new album so no wonder they're going as far away from their last album as possible.

      Yeah, I so agree with all those who say "do your research properly", because apparently you haven't heard "Felt Mountain". So this new material is a return of sorts, only it doesn't beat Felt Mountain by far.
